A Staten Island judge of the Supreme Court of New York struck down this law as incompatible with the New York State Constitution. Apparently the Democrats who passed it wanted those holding lawful permanent resident status or US work authorization to be able to vote. The cover theory being, well, they live here, they pay taxes here, they're here legally, they're affected by government policies - no taxation without representation, right?
