To this day, Barack Hussein Obama remains a man of mystery. Copious amounts of documentation from his early life and academic career have never been released. It took years of pressure, plus Donald Trump as the ringmaster of a media circus, just to see his birth certificate. When the L.A. Times obtained a potentially embarrassing videotape of Obama laughing it up at a party for Arafat minion Rashid Khalidi, the paper pursed its lips and fastidiously hid the tape from public view. Their newspaper account of the part didn’t even mention that domestic terrorist Friends of Obama Bill Ayers and...

Recently, I wrote a column about U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk (R-IL-10th District) throwing his hat into the pool of GOP candidates seeking the U.S. Senate seat to be vacated by Roland Burris. I'm sure Mr. Kirk would like to hear the response to his candidacy has been overwhelmingly positive. However, for the first time in my memory, not one individual who read my piece was in support of Kirk. Indeed, the U.S. Representative from the 10th District was widely maligned by those who read the column and agreed with my thoughts concerning why Kirk should not be seeking the nomination...

The Washington Post added its voice Wednesday to a growing chorus of demands for the resignation of Sen. Roland Burris two days after he detailed conversations with impeached Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich's brother that he failed to mention under oath. Sen. Roland Burris of Illinois is facing pressure to step down in leading newspaper editorials. Burris, appointed by a scandal-wracked Blagojevich to fill President Obama's vacant Senate seat, told reporters Monday night in Peoria, Illinois, that he had three conversations with the governor's brother, Robert Blagojevich. In them, the Democratic senator said he discussed possibly raising money for the governor...

Obama isn't only afraid to debate Keyes; he was afraid to debate Steve Rauschenberger. Do you wonder why when Obama is under political fire the response usually comes from Rahm Emanuel or Don Rose? Or Axelrod? He's protected like a hothouse plant.

Bush Aide Resigns to Explore Ill. Senate Run Friday, July 09, 2004 SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The deputy director of President Bush's drug-control office resigned Friday to explore a run for the U.S. Senate in place of Jack Ryan (search), the Republican nominee who dropped out over sex club allegations. Andrea Grubb Barthwell (search), a Chicago-area physician, had been deputy director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy (search) in Washington since 2002, focusing on reducing demand for drugs. Federal law barred her from seeking the Republican nomination while she worked for the government. Michael Barnes, an attorney and Barthwell...

CHICAGO -- According to a WGN/Chicago Tribune poll on the United States Senate race to replace retiring Senator Peter Fitzgerald released tonight, Jim Oberweis of Aurora has jumped ahead of Jack Ryan to take the lead on the GOP side of the ledger with 16% support from those surveyed.
