A year later, when he was 9, he also enrolled in Fullerton College. “My husband and two daughters said I was crazy,” said Choi, who’s worked as a tutor for more than 20 years. “But I trust my instinct. I know he is a very unique child because he's very curious and intelligent.” With his mom at his side, Clovis attended classes. At one point, he was...

Arkansas may retry a man for murder even though jurors in his first trial were unanimous that he was not guilty, the Supreme Court ruled Thursday. Alex Blueford, who is accused of killing his girlfriend’s 1-year-old son, is not protected by the Constitution’s Double Jeopardy Clause, the court ruled in a 6 to 3 decision. Because the judge dismissed the jury when it was unable to reach agreement on lesser charges, Blueford was not officially cleared of any of the charges, the majority said, and thus may be retried. “The jury in this case did not convict Blueford of any...

Palin effigy hung in Halloween displayOct 28, 2008 9:13 AM An effigy of US Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin hanging by a noose as part of a Halloween display drew complaints on Monday, but local officials said the homeowner was covered by free speech rights. Sat, December 3, 2005 BARRIE -- A sex assault trial that hung on claims of a large penis was turned into a "cheap joke" by media coverage, a superior court judge said yesterday as she found the accused guilty.
