I just finished following the thread highlighting the Chevy small-block history. My wife and I recently went to the Good Guys show in Pleasanton CA. There were lots of BEAUTIFUL cars there. I think that every '69 Camero ever made was there. Every one more beautiful than the last. But, we noticed that everyone there was our age. Less than "older than dirt" but able to remember Vietnam. I wondered what will happen in the next 20 years when we are all gone. Will cars of the 50's, 60's, 70's be a thing of the past? (I stopped counting at...

Hey guys and girls. Who here has cruised a Blvd or Ave while you were a teen? Do you remember what that meant to you and the fun of just looking next to the other car? Who has dragged raced when the light hit green?

U.S. Army Top Fuel racer Schumacher entered Saturday's final two rounds of time trails unqualified, and started his final pass sitting on the bump spot, but four and a half seconds later he was in more familiar territory as the event's No. 1 qualifier. Funny Car's John Force, Pro Stock's Greg Anderson, and Pro Stock Motorcyclist Ryan Schnitz joined Schumacher on the low qualifier's podium as the 37th annual ACDelco NHRA Gatornationals completed its elimination fields. Schumacher's last-gasp 4.515 at 325.96 mph kept him perfect on the season as he earned his third low qualifier award of the year. It...

In the annals of masculine teen fiction few writers are more revered than Chester Ivan Hudson, whose two-fisted tales of hot rod science fiction adventure have enthralled generations of adolescent schoolboys. The following are excerpts from Hudson's 1956 classic "The Blog," which would later become a popular low budget drive-in release from Irving Z. Korfmann's American Intracontinental Pictures, starring a young Slate McNicholson as plucky protagonist Biff Baxley. Still spry and lively at 85, Hudson lives an active retirement in Prescott, AZ where he manages 9 daily holes of golf while answering his many fan letters. "The school librarians never...

The fact that Volkswagen has a new 270-horsepower eight-cylinder Passat model shows that the horsepower race is on again--with a vengeance. It's beginning to make the hot muscle car era of the 1960s seem almost tame. For instance, the new Dodge Viper sports car has a 500 horsepower V-10 engine. And you can get the 2003 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra with a supercharged 390-horsepower V-8. Ford even is building a low-slung coupe similar to the 1960s GT40 model that beat Ferrari at the famous Le Mans race in France. Horsepower of the GT40? Probably more than 500. "Every automaker is...
