Original “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” star Kristy Swanson has reportedly been hospitalized with “COVID-related” complications. “Prayers for me please. Yesterday I took an ambulance ride to the hospital. I’m still here with pneumonia, I’m on oxygen etc, all covid related of course. I’m in good spirits and in great hands,” the 51-year-old actor wrote on Twitter Monday. SNIP At the same time, the ’80s icon has drawn criticism for her openly held opinions against vaccination, with some on the platform calling her a contender for the “Herman Cain Awards” — a topical take on the legendary “Darwin Awards,” which honors...

When news hit that former Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain died of COVID-19 a month after he attended then-President Donald Trump's rally in Tulsa last summer, many of the president's campaign staffers blamed themselves for his death, according to a new book. "We killed Herman Cain," one senior Trump staffer reportedly told ABC News reporter Will Steakin, who also attended the Tulsa event on June 20, 2020. That's according to an excerpt of ABC News' chief Washington correspondent Jonathan Karl's forthcoming book, "Betrayal: The Final Act of the Trump Show," published in Vanity Fair on Thursday. The book is slated...

Herman Cain, co-chair of Black Voices for Trump, was working to reelect the president when his life was prematurely taken from him by the Wuhan coronavirus. Cain was hospitalized with the virus on July 1 and languished there for four weeks until passing away on July 30. He was essential both as a conservative and as a courageous human being. He spoke out against political interference with hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) as an effective preventive and early medication for COVID-19. Despite tweets from the hospital, there is no indication that he received the beneficial treatment in a timely manner.Instead, his millions of...

TGIF, dear Kruiser Morning Briefing readers. I hope that the Fifth Month of March, 2020 is wrapping up well for all of you. Before we get into the seedy stuff alluded to in the headline, I’d like to share a few thoughts about Herman Cain. Jeff has a longer post about Cain’s passing here, and I will probably be echoing some of his sentiments. I first met Herman Cain in the fall of 2010 at a small luncheon when all of the Tea Party conference travel was really getting going. We were at so many of the same events that...

[snip] As the election approaches, the left has apparently decided for its political purposes to embrace religion. Our Tim Graham has documented how the MSM is now portraying Joe Biden as deeply devout. And nary a week goes by that Nancy Pelosi doesn't flaunt her faith. Morning Joe got into the spirit today. First, Joe Scarborough compared him to Jesus: "John Lewis was considered the conscience of Congress. He also was a Christian, who was Christ-like. You look at the Beatitudes, and so many of them apply to the life, day in and day out." Jon Meacham upped the ante:...

The rapper Snoop Dogg has smeared several prominent black conservatives “The Coon Bunch,” including Herman Cain, Candace Owens, Paris Dennard, and the Angela Stanton. Snoop Dogg posted a meme on Instagram on Sunday in which the faces of 11 prominent black conservatives were arranged in the style of The Brady Bunch, with the title of the 70s sitcom replaced with “The Coon Bunch.” "Coon” is a common slur used by black Americans against black conservatives, along with “Uncle Tom.” The term, which dates back to the 19th century, is used today by black people to smear other black people who...

President Trump’s bold and unifying leadership during the coronavirus pandemic offers a template that all Republicans should follow as we approach one of the most important elections of our lifetimes. By limiting travel from China and other coronavirus hot spots early on and securing our borders, plus temporarily suspending immigration and providing vital economic relief to struggling workers and businesses, our president has consistently looked after the well-being of all Americans at every stage of this crisis. While the Democrats struggle to line up their various bickering factions in support of presumptive presidential nominee Joe Biden, Republicans remain extraordinarily united...

When Georgia Sen. Saxby Chambliss announced Friday that he wouldn’t seek a third term in 2014, a race that already was likely to feature a contested Republican primary exploded into a free-for-all. Several Republicans, including several congressmen, are eyeing the seat. The more crowded the field, the more likely the GOP race will pit mainstream conservatives against the hardliners who had grown disenchanted with Chambliss for working with Democrats to find common ground on budget and tax issues. Democrats, meanwhile, hope for exactly that kind of Republican fracas. They view the 69-year-old Chambliss’ decision as an opportunity to reverse the...

There really is nothing new under the sun. The infamous Salem Witch Trials started with a group of young girls claiming they were doing bad things because they were possessed. They then said that it was witches who caused them to be possessed, naming them without providing any evidence. The “witches” were then summarily executed. Well, eight in total, over just a few months. According to History.com: “The infamous Salem witch trials began during the spring of 1692, after a group of young girls in Salem Village, Massachusetts, claimed to be possessed by the devil and accused several local women...

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) said that while it’s “good news” there was “insufficient evidence” to charge President Trump with conspiracy or obstruction, he was dismayed by the “pervasiveness of dishonesty and misdirection” by Trump and those around him. In the Friday statement, Romney said he was pleased the “business of government” could now “move on.” “The alternative would have taken us through a wrenching process with the potential for constitutional crisis,” he wrote. “Even so, I am sickened at the extent and pervasiveness of dishonesty and misdirection by individuals in the highest office of the land, including the President.” The...

A growing headache for McConnell and maybe for Trump too. Actual headline from the Daily Beast this evening:I think when Trump first floated Cain’s name for a Fed slot, he expected Senate Republicans would go along without a fuss. And why not? That’s what they almost always do, especially with presidential nominations. In fact, they just got done nuking a Senate rule that required 30 hours of debate for certain nominees, replacing it with one that requires two hours instead. It seemed like they were building a conveyor belt to streamline confirmation of Trump’s picks for key vacancies. And then...

A woman who once famously claimed she had a 13-year affair with Herman Cain said Thursday she would testify under oath against him unless he withdraws his campaign for a seat on the Federal Reserve Board. Ginger White of Atlanta said she is willing to even identify certain parts of Cain’s body to back up her accusations, which he has denied for years. “It’s time for you to be held accountable for your actions,” White said at a press conference in Manhattan, flanked by celebrity lawyer Gloria Allred. “Today more than ever, women are fighting back. We’re not going to...
