Hey gang! Well, it finally happened: Hubby and I have decided to do our income taxes (state/fed) a la computer software + electronic filing. Now all I need is to pick your brains for a suggestion as to which program I need. Our returns are very simple: - mighty few, nothing-out-of-the-ordinary excemptions - Also, b/c hubby is in auto sales, in addition to straight (taxed) income there are the (non-taxed) bonus checks And that's it. Any and all suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks in advance! --YD, The techno dinosaur

Each year it gets harder and harder to locate Christmas wrapping paper with a Christian theme. You know, the designs we used to take for granted: Babe in a Manger, the Three Wise Men, Peace on Earth, etc. I thought it would be useful to pool our resources as to what is available out there in stores and on the Web. After a few hours on Google, I've found two designs that fit the bill: Jeweled PeaceWe Three KingsClearly my Google-foo skills are deficient. Anyone else have some good sources?

Since freepers have IQ above the rest of the population, I thought I would solicit recommendation from this forum concerning getting an MBA online or by correspondence. I know this degree is useless in the real world, but some jobs require you to have that piece of paper. I heard many online MBA programs are a joke and are not respected. Does anyone know of a respectable online or correspondence MBA program, esp. in the area of financial analysis. Thanks for any info you can offer.

I'd be grateful for any recommendations on a gun safe. I have a couple of long guns and a handgun, and want to keep them beyond reach of kids. Thanks very much

I need advice from anyone having experience setting up a dell notebook. I build desktops but have never done anything with notebooks. I have an Inspiron 6000 that I bought as a refurb from the Dell outlet. (Like an idiot, I didn't buy the warranty.) It appears that the hard drive is bad, as after the Dell screen, the system never boots to windows. It just stays black. (I did have a BSD earlier.) I booted from an XP install cd, and it saw 3 partitions: The first one was a fat, and was 55Mb. The second on had a...

Hi all; 'Tis the Season, and I'm looking to upgrade my digital camera from an old 2.3 MP HP Photosmart 612 ... ... to a good, reliable, relatively easy-to-use 5+ MP camera. Am liking what I'm seeing written about the Olympus C-60 Zoom (6.1 MP), but wanted to what what other FReepers like using/recommend.

The wife left 01/2004. I filed for divorce 11/2005 after she had my mailing address changed: she knew it was time for car insurance renewal; I didn't get the bill and the policy I've held since 1981 was dropped for non-payment of premium. My attorney says forget it. I thought I had the address mess straightened out. Nope. I'm due a substantial refund from the IRS for 2004 (yeah, it was delayed, but that's been resolved). The refund was mailed to her address in a different city (she's done the address change, in my name, again). Question: What can I...

I have a network that has not been working. My computer, the main computer works well through it and connects up to the cable without problem. Computer number two just throws up these days but lets forget it for now. Triage works in computers as well as medicine. Computer number three wants to hook up to the internet and it appears that it sends packets to the router but cannot receive. there is a Via RhineII fast internet adapter that needs attention. Device does not start (Code 10) I am assuming that this is the card where the usb port...

After work this afternoon I found a small wad of cash on the train platform. I was thinking of putting up a flyer that says something to the effect of: "Found Money on Friday afternoon. Call xxx-xxx-xxxx, identify amount to claim. If not claimed by Christmas will donate to my church." Has anyone been in this situation before? How did you handle it? This is New York after all and part of me doesn't want to deal with all of the potential fraudsters. I should just donate it straight away, but I really want to make sure it gets back...

Ok, I'm sorry if this is a silly thread, but I'm looking for advice on the legalities of a situation and I'm not sure where to go. I figured there are a lot of freepers here who are pretty darn smart and combined with experiences, could offer some help... Basically a big known company (name withheld) my husband worked for just sent a letter saying that they over paid him by $192 and are requesting it to be paid back. He hasn't worked there since September 2005 and they are just now sending us this letter. Do they have a...

WASHINGTON, Dec. 8, 2005 – Becky Campbell's son, David, is in the Army's 82nd Airborne Division. After her son returned home safe after a tour of duty in Iraq in 2003, Campbell said she decided to help military families who'd suffered the loss of a loved one. "I wanted to do something," Campbell said. So Campbell founded the nonprofit Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund in October 2003. She said the all-volunteer, nationwide group provides scholarship money to surviving spouses and children of military families from all branches of the armed forces. "We're a grassroots organization not affiliated with anybody...

I want to buy my five year old grandson a western outfit and a real cap gun for Christmas. I can't find a cap gun. I was politely told in ToysrUs that they didn't carry anything that dangerous. For heaven's sake, what is dangerous about caps? My brothers used them at an early age. When I do a google search, I am offered 'clickable' guns, but not the real thing. Anyone have any information on this gun control?

Something "funny" going on here. I am unable to connect to google, msn, microsoft, yahoo and others... always timesout - using netscape and tried with ie as well. what's really strange, I had FR loaded overnight and I can connect to all pages on FR - just not anywhere else.

Note to thread police: I am posting this in Chat. I am trying to find a way to modify the priority of a program/process that I have running as a Windows service on Windows 2000 Server. I have tried the right-click from the task manager method with no luck (access denied.) I need the priority setting to be static so I don't have to reset it every time I reboot. Some of the most knowledgable IT people I know are on FR, so that is why I am asking here.

Wanting to know if there are legal actions I can take. To give you a little background first, my coworker and I are software engineers, contracting through an agency to a very large company in Cincinnati, Ohio. Coworker and I sit by the doorway into the hallway. It gets very very loud at times in the hallway with people talking and laughing. There are times that Coworker and I cannot hear someone on the phone because it is that loud. We can't even talk to each other. Coworker sent out an email asking if he and I could be moved...

FReepers of many talents, *Merry Christmas!* That said, I need help in the idea department. I have in my garage, an outdoor Nativity set of 11 pieces. Baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, an Angel, 3 Wise Men, a shepherd boy, a donkey, a cow, and a lamb or two. At present I do not have a Manger. Displaying the figures without a Manger seems so incomplete to me. Therefore, I want to build a Manger for my front yard; one that could be broken down or easily stored during the spring, summer and fall. I thought the Internet would have some...

Please forgive the rare vanity, but I need to tap into the vast database of freeper knowledge. I need a Latin Translation for the phrase, "Everyone Dies". I've had poor luck with internet translators, and since it's for ink, it has to be right the first time. Thanks.
