Chief Justice John Roberts, speaking at a moment when threats against judges are on the rise, warned on Saturday that elected officials’ heated words about judges can lead to threats or acts of violence by others.
Without identifying anyone by name, Roberts clearly referenced Republican President Donald Trump and Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer of New York when he said he has felt compelled to issue public rebukes of figures in both parties in recent years.
“It becomes wrapped up in the political dispute that a judge who’s doing his or her job is part of the problem,” Roberts said at a gathering of lawyers and judges in Charlotte, North Carolina. “And the danger, of course, is somebody might pick up on that. And we have had, of course, serious threats of violence and murder of judges just simply for doing their work. So I think the political people on both sides of the aisle need to keep that in mind.” …

Thank you very much and God bless you.
Chief Justice John Roberts, a federal gov’t employee, is speaking outside of what the constitution forbids (1stA).
We have the right to speak out ESPECIALLY against the gov’t including judges. Roberts is violating the Constitution which by oath he promised to follow and respect.
That’ll do, pig.
Until Chief Justice Roberts acknowledges the ridiculousness of some of their opinions, the court will not be respected.
Is he trying to say that judges are not part of the problem?
Hey, Roberts, maybe if you policed the flagrantly biased commies on the various benches yourself, there wouldn’t be heated words from elected officials - at least in this administration.
Roberts should target Chuckie for outrageous threats against the SCOTUS.
Does the heated word principle effect also apply to heated words against Trump?
Why John?
Don’t lie, it’s unbecoming.
POTUS is rife with graft. Kagan, Sotomayor, Jackson - they can’t think, but they can take millions to rule the way they do. Statistically it’s impossible to believe otherwise.
And then there is you “it’s a tax”. What a turd.
We’ll stop berating judges when they stop making decisions based on politics rather than the law.
Dear John,
There ARE ‘Rat judges appointed to the job by ‘Rats.
Would be a good idea I think to reign those rogue judges in.
Show some balls Roberts and admonish all judges trying to legislate from the bench. How about a statement like: “If you want to LEGISLATE resign your judgeship and run for office.”
Maybe Roberts should warn stupid judges about ludicrous rulings that are unconstitutional.
First LOL of the day for me.
Very appropriate
He just wants us to follow Germany and jail anybody that speaks ill of any government weenie.
Judges crapped all over America for the last decade, J6, the fake Trump criminal cases. the Alex Jokes cases, the rubber stamping the stolen 2020 election, the judicial depredations during Covid, the judicial insurrection, judges shopping etc etc.
Eff this clown
John, if you would keep your subordinates in their proper lane there wouldn’t be a problem
Glad to be of service.
And we have had, of course, serious threats of violence and murder of judges just simply for doing their work.
Frankly I am surpised the rhetoric and results have not been more heated.
