Jon Gruden is done coaching in the NFL, but he is not done with the NFL. The Raiders coach who resigned after it was discovered he used racial and misogynistic language in emails with former Washington Football Team General Manager Bruce Allen sued the NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell for orchestrating the “selective leaking” of the emails that led to his resignation. “Jon Gruden has filed suit against the National Football League and Commissioner Goodell in the Eighth Judicial District Court in Clark County, Nevada,” Adam Hosmer-Henner, Gruden’s attorney, wrote. “The complaint alleges that the defendants selectively leaked Gruden’s private...

The Raiders coach made a very interesting comment during a recent interviewFormer Raiders coach Jon Gruden has been keeping a low-profile since resigning from his job on Oct. 11 and although he still hasn't made any public comments about his situation, he did offer a cryptic statement when reached recently by a producer for an HBO show. Emmy-winning sports journalist Andrea Kremer explained how the situation went down during the latest episode of the Real Sports Podcast. Back in September, Kremer did a profile on Raiders owner Mark Davis for the HBO show Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel. Less than...

Joy Behar told her co-hosts Wednesday on ABC’s “The View” that the NFL should “rehire” Colin Kaepernick to make up for former Las Vegas Raiders coach Jon Gruden’s emails. Behar said, “The scandal at the NFL keeps getting worse. Raiders coach Jon Gruden was forced to resign after years of his racist, homophobic and misogynist emails were found while investing the toxic work environment in yet another organization, The Washington football team.” Co-host Sara Haines said, “This was troping at the lowest level. We can’t say these words. We were reminded 15 times not to,. But most of us don’t...

It’s possible that there are damaging things for a lot of people in those emails, but one interesting tidbit was revealed in a June court filing that led to the revelation of Gruden’s words. In July 2011 during the NFL lockout, ESPN insider Adam Schefter sent an email of an unpublished story to then-Washington GM Bruce Allen, asking for feedback. “Please let me know if you see anything that should be added, changed, tweaked,” Schefter wrote to Allen, according to the Los Angeles Times. “Thanks, Mr. Editor, for that and the trust. Plan to file this to espn about 6...

Carl Nassib came out last offseason via a brief social media video. It made him the first openly gay NFL player. There were criticisms this wasn’t important or something no one needed to know. Some even accused him of using his announcement to ensure he wouldn’t be cut this year by the Las Vegas Raiders. Nassib, however, has said little since that day. He’s just done his job, and done it pretty well. It’s been far more important than that. Consider that until Monday, Nassib’s head coach was Jon Gruden, who in emails uncovered during a tangential NFL investigation freely...

SNIP The NFL reportedly has 650,000 emails from the NFL’s workplace misconduct investigation into the Washington Football Team, but the only ones that have seen the light of day are the unhinged ones from Gruden. Maybe there are no more of interest, but why are some being protected and others not? SNIP The NFL did not suspend Daniel Snyder. The NFL did not say anything of substance about its findings. The NFL’s Brian McCarthy said, “Based on the material that we have reviewed, we haven’t identified anything that needed to be reported to club or league leadership” SNIP But the...

Gruden criticized the emergence of women in the NFL as officials and called for the dismissal of players protesting the playing of the national anthem. He also said in an email that the Rams shouldn’t have been been pressured into drafting “queers” when the team took Michael Sam, who was the first openly gay player drafted. Gruden referred to Biden in 2012 when he was vice president as a “nervous clueless pu$$y” during an email exchange with former Washington executive Bruce Allen. He also called Roger Goodell a “clueless anti football pu$$y.”

A report that Jon Gruden used a racist comment about NFL Players Association leader DeMaurice Smith in an email 10 years ago drew a strong and quick rebuke Friday from the NFL. A Wall Street Journal story noted that Gruden, then working for ESPN and now coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, referred in a racist way to Smith’s facial features. “The email from Jon Gruden denigrating DeMaurice Smith is appalling, abhorrent and wholly contrary to the NFL’s values,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said. “We condemn the statement and regret any harm that its publication may inflict on Mr. Smith...

The soldiers expressed their gratitude over and over to the NFL coaches who made the trip to Iraq. "They kept thanking us," said the Tennessee Titans' Jeff Fisher. "We kept thanking them." A world they knew only through the distant glimpses of news reports turned very real for the coaches as they met with hundreds of soldiers in three...
