Like most Cuban-Americans, I have friends and relatives down in South Florida. I speak often with them on the phone. On Friday morning, a Cuban friend told me that Governor Scott could end up as the next senator from Florida. I was surprised to hear it, but my friend referred me to an article from the Tampa Bay Times:

Gov. Rick Scott has turned down more than $2 billion in federal money for a high-speed rail project that would link Tampa and Orlando.
