Down in Florida...

Like most Cuban-Americans, I have friends and relatives down in South Florida. I speak often with them on the phone.

On Friday morning, a Cuban friend told me that Governor Scott could end up as the next senator from Florida. I was surprised to hear it, but my friend referred me to an article from the Tampa Bay Times:

Hmmm. We don't live there any longer but it would be worth it to see billy nelson cry if he loses to Scott. Kind of rino-ish but better than a full nelson.

Scott will vote with Trump, Nelson votes against him.

Scott is not perfect but he is 100% better then Nelson if you are on the Trump train.

Senator (D) Bill Nelson has been a jack-booted democrat since his election to public office in 1972, and member of the Senate since 2000.

Governor, Rick Scott will destroy Democrat, Senator, Bill Nelson and, Florida & Texas will both be “Bright Ruby Red” this coming November.

The Democrat Party anticipated “Blue Wave” has turned into the Democrat party “Blue Trickle” if that!!!

“Among more than 200 experts and veterans of Florida politics surveyed in the latest Tampa Bay Times Florida Insider Poll, nearly six in 10 this week said they expect Florida’s Republican governor to unseat the three-term Democratic Senator.”

Interesting, but brief, article. It sounds like Rick Scott is going after the anti-communist Hispanic vote. It’s a story that I like to hear.

The Republican Party was too lazy or too stupid to target Nelson, a failed democrat hack, in the past. They just kept ceding this seat to the Dems. Scott, with his independendant wealth doesn’t need the rino machine and self funded his governors run with scathing political ads. Now, thank gosh he’s going strong after Nelson. He’s already running ads down here on a regular basis. Nelson does not know what’s hitting him because he’s used to the gentile Rino party, not this talented self made billionaire. Finally, a Trump like Senator is taking on old man Nelson.

I usually say to hold your nose and vote for the GOP nom unless it's a Graham or McCain or a Gabriel Gomez...But if I lived in Florida I'd think long and hard before casting a vote for Scott.

He decided that it makes sense for a 20 year old Marine who just spend 18 months on a combat tour in Afghanistan to be told "the state of Florida cannot trust you with a firearm."

Don't think I could vote for a person who is able to rationalize that.

Get you head out of your ass.

Scott votes with Trump. Nelson votes against. Having a temper-tantrum and not voting with someone who agrees with you 80% of the time to elect a guy 100% against you, is petulance not principal.

This idiocy being pushed by supposed "Movement Conservatives" that it is better to lose then elect someone who does not agree 100% with their dogmas is infantile and stupid. That is not how politics works.

And let address the real season for this dogma. Political cowardice. it allows the poster to fake "I'm above the fray, I hate both Dems and Repbs". It High School level ego and posturing and utterly stupid to see in a supposedly rational adult.

You are not "voting on principal" when you do that, you are voting petulantly because you did not get 100% of only what you

It's not a matter of 80% or 100%, it's that he took the initiative to take a steaming dump on the 2nd Amendment rights of Floridians. Scott it probably more than 90% on many things, but he's apparently 0% on one of the three or so things I will not brook compromise on. I'm weary of it. 99% of the time whoever we vote for doesn't result in positive change. When was the last time we had positive movement on the 2nd Amendment at a national level? We won't even get national reciprocity, never mind eased restrictions on suppressors and some other NFA stuff. When was the last time we had a budget? The military has gotten more PC under Trump and "Mad Dog" than it was under Obama. Helmets being redesigned to accommodate female hairstyles! Maternity BATTLE DRESS uniforms! Girls are now being assigned to combat arms units in both the Army and Marine Corps, and nobody has lifted a finger to stop it. I'm tired.

In this case I have the luxury of not being a Florida resident so I don't have to decide. Here is Massachusetts nobody but Marxists have a chance anyway (our state GOP is left of many state 'Rat parties and slavishly emphasize that it's a "fiscal conservative" party, not a social one) so in fact I seldom have to choose anyway, but that doesn't make it any less discouraging.

So what’s Nelson’s position on the 2nd amendment?

Nobody NEEDS an ass-salt rifle. I remember him in ads with one of his kids talking up the 2nd but damning ARs. Cause he’s a hunter too. Or something.

The new FL gun law age restriction only applies to rifles. The NRA is challenging it in court.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/gov-rick-scott-signs-compromise-gun-control-bill-parkland-florida-shooting/

Lance Corporal Snuffy just back from Afghanistan can purchase and carry a hand gun.

Scott’s not dumb. He was bowing to political pressure from the MSM’s full court press. I’m sure he realizes the age provision will be over-turned.

This is about retaining GOP control of the Senate, period.

If you want Liberal Judges who are hell bent in destroying our Constitutional Republic, don’t Vote for the Republican.

If you want POTUS Trump to continue to move his Agenda forward while appointing Conservative Judges, Vote for the Republican.

Between the two I’d be forced to hold my nose and vote for Scott if I still lived in Florida but don’t expect me to like him. I and all Conservatives/Libertarians who have observed him don’t like him. Its just that Nelson is much worse.

As a native Floridian, it’s about time someone challenged Nelson for the knee jerk democrat that he is. He voted for the “stimulus” package and for Obamacare. His conducts polls that are so slanted that you cannot get your viewpoint across.

It seems that whenever we sent a democrat to Washington from Florida, they become lackeys of the DNC. It happened with Lawton Chiles and, to a lesser extent, Bob Graham (whom I describe as an empty suit).

Why is it that it is always supposed “Conservatives: in dark dark blue states that want to lecture everyone about ideological voting purity?

Maybe your states would not be dark dark blue if your sort of political purist focused more on winning and less on fantasies about perfect political purity in your candidates.

Your perfect candidate loses, the Dem goes to DC and votes for everything you hate. The less then perfect GOP candidate goes to DC and is on your side 80-90% of the time.

With Trump in the White house, the worst GOPer is better then the best Dem simply because they will vote for Trump on Judges, Confirmation etc while the Dem will oppose.
