US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley slammed Russia at the GOP retreat in West Virginia on Thursday, definitively telling Republican lawmakers that Moscow "is not, will not, be our friend." "As long as their government has the values that it has, and as long as it conducts itself the way it does internationally," Haley said. Haley made it very clear that Russia meddled in the 2016 US election but also noted that "there is no reason to think the Russian interference made any difference between who won and lost."

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — President Trump on Thursday likened House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s calling the recent tax law-related bonuses “crumbs” to Hillary Clinton’s infamous “deplorable” comments from the 2016 campaign. “That could be like ‘deplorable,’ ” Mr. Trump said of Mrs. Pelosi’s comments. “Those two words — they seem to have a resemblance. I hope it has the same meaning.”

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — President Trump tried to fire up congressional Republicans at the Greenbrier resort here Thursday, using a lunchtime speech at the GOP’s annual policy retreat to tout their accomplishments in 2017 and spur them to action in what could be a tough election year. “Working together, we’ve accomplished extraordinary things for the American over the last year, and I really believe this is just the beginning,” the president said. “You folks have done well,” he told Republican leaders gathered onstage. “We’re now in battle together.”

CROZET, Va. President Trump was supposed to be on this Amtrack train to Greenbriar, but for some reason he was not. The train was headed to the Greenbriar in Virginia for a retreat on Republican strategy. I find this very suspicious. The truck was sitting on the tracks, and now the driver is deceased. Most are tweeting they are ok, but there were some injured. This happened outside Charlottesville, Virginia. The person in the truck has been pronounced dead. Senator Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) who was on the train assisted those injured. Two others from the truck were injured.

WASHINGTON — A woman impersonated the wife of a GOP lawmaker and snuck into the congressional Republican retreat in Philadelphia Thursday, the same day President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence appeared, retreat organizers told lawmakers late Saturday. The revelation came as the nonprofit Congressional Institute that organizes the retreat investigates how audio of the gathering leaked. In an email to GOP lawmakers, institute president Mark Strand did not directly say that the impersonator was the same person who leaked the audio, but that was the implication. “The Congressional Institute is continuing to investigate this breach in order to...

PHILADELPHIA ― President Donald Trump appeared before a supportive group of lawmakers at the congressional GOP’s annual retreat Thursday to cheer on his own anti-trade, anti-immigration, anti-Obamacare rhetoric. But there was a key difference between his usual speeches and the one he delivered here: Republicans now have the ability to make law. “We’re actually going to sign the stuff that you’re writing,” Trump said to House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.). “You’re not wasting your time!”
