Early humans may have moved north into the chilly latitudes of Europe hundreds of thousands of years before mastering a crucial technology: Fire. A survey of 141 archaeological sites in Europe found no evidence of habitual use of fire prior to about 400,000 years ago. Early humans arrived much earlier. Some archeological evidence indicates they arrived in southern Europe more than a million years ago, and the Happisburgh site in the northeastern part of England's Norfolk region contains stone tools dating back more than 800,000 years ago. Evidence for the use of fire – concentrations of ashes and charcoal, sediments...

New World Order, New World Religion By Jean F. Drew Executive Summary: Our thesis is the New World Order needs a “new age” religion to back it up. “Old age” religions obligate their followers to a moral code ill-suited to “new age” progressivist designs and purposes. So people worldwide need to be “re-trained” in the spirituality department. Perhaps a clue as to what sort of training this would be can be found at the United Nations itself. The U.N. has chartered two NGOs — World Goodwill and Lucis Trust — which serve as advisors to various U.N....

On display once again in the wake of the Wisconsin Republican vote to destroy collective bargaining for public workers: the fetish of self-victimization that conservatives seem to possess in spades. In the aftermath of their most successful power grab in history, Wisconsin Republicans are in some cases too distracted to feel celebratory; instead, they're feeling assaulted and persecuted. Even when they are the very top of the piggy pile, they perceive themselves at the very bottom of it. Rep. Jeff Fitzgerald, the Wisconsin Assembly speaker and brother of state Senate leader Scott Fitzgerald (whose father was recently appointed by Gov....

Michael Moore labelled a 'communist' as he rallies protesters in Wisconsin... and likens their plight to EgyptBy Mark Duell Last updated at 3:45 PM on 7th March 2011 A multi-millionaire liberal film-maker has compared the Wisconsin protests to Egypt’s revolt and told residents they are galvanising America against the wealthy elite. Michael Moore, 56, urged protesters this weekend to fight Republican efforts to trim trade union powers and said to thousands of them: ‘Madison is only the beginning’. His speech comes after he was criticised by business magnate Donald Trump, who said his views make him sound more like a...

There must be something in Bill Maher's contract with HBO that requires him to make at least one joke about the former Alaska governor on every show. In his monologue beginning the most recent installment of "Real Time," the host said Charlie Sheen's childish, needlessly defensive, nonsensical behavior is like Sarah Palin on coke. BILL MAHER: What a week, right, people? I mean, this week Americans turned on their television sets and were witness to a pathetic disaster slowly unfolding. And then after the Oscars were over… [Laughter and applause] MAHER: …then Charlie Sheen started to give interviews and it...

This video may be disturbing for some to watch. To see people so far out of control . . . at the brink. The incident ended "peacefully" with the assistance of Democrat Brett Hulsey. See the link.

CHICAGO - The city of Chicago ordered its police force not to enforce the law against a mob of homosexualist activists who disrupted Mass at the Holy Name Cathedral to protest “anti-gay bigots” who support the Church’s teaching on marriage. The Gay Liberation Network staged the rally on the eve of Valentine’s Day, shouting and chanting loudly as churchgoers entered to celebrate Sunday Mass.

Iraq's largest oil refinery was shut down on Saturday after militants carried out a bomb attack and set it on fire, the governor of Salahuddin province said. The militants killed four people and planted bombs at production units for kerosene and benzene at the refinery in the town of Baiji, a former al Qaeda stronghold about 180 km (112 miles) north of Baghdad, Governor Ahmed al-Jubouri said. "There is a big fire in the refinery and the refinery has completely stopped," Jubouri told Reuters. Overall violence in Iraq has dropped sharply since the peak of sectarian conflict in 2006-07, but...

As people’s insurrections spread in the Arab world, it might be useful for those watching the mayhem gather pace to take time out from television and reach for some historical perspective. There is no substitute for such perspective to put in context the Arab drama unfolding before our eyes. And like a play of several acts, it will have many scene changes before the curtain eventually comes down. From North Africa to the Persian Gulf, Arab regimes are trembling. Some will fall and others will change colours to barely survive. The Libyan thug Moammar Gadhafi did not imagine his thugocracy...

The White House has appointed the first male social secretary in its history: Jeremy Bernard. Currently, Bernard is a senior adviser to the U.S. ambassador to France. Previously, he served as the White House liaison to the National Endowment for the Humanities. “Jeremy shares our vision for the White House as the People’s House, one that celebrates our history and culture in dynamic and inclusive ways,” President Obama says in a statement. “I have long admired the arts and education programs that have become hallmarks of the Obama White House and I am eager to continue these efforts in the...

AND NOW . . . amidst billowing clouds of fragrant, aromatic first- and second-hand premium cigar smoke. . . it is time for . . . that harmless, lovable little fuzz ball, the highly-trained broadcast specialist, having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have, from behind the golden EIB microphone, firmly ensconced in the prestigious Attila-the-Hun chair at the Limbaugh Institute of Advanced Conservative Studies, serving humanity simply by showing up, and he’s not retiring until every American agrees with him, do NOT doubt him, with shrieks of joy at the mere mention of his name...

Dear Darwin Central, Thank you very much for the nifty Darwin Central coffee mug we received in the mail from you. Sheila uses it every morning for her tea. She loves evolution. Says it's one of our awesome God's greatest creations. It's kinda like his autopilot. I don't know about that, but do believe that God works in mysterious ways. Isaiah 55:8 (KJV) 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 55:9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my...

If the conservative movement which has come roaring back to life in the past couple of years hopes to survive and prevail, it must be united under a solid platform, not divided by conflicting ideologies. I have written previously about what I call America’s great unbridgeable divide. It’s a division of massive proportion between lovers of God, family and American freedom and haters of God, family and American freedom. It really is that simple, and the contrast between the two sides could not be more stark. I have also warned the Tea Party movement about the danger of emphasizing purely...

Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter (Revelation 1;19)The instruction given to the apostle John, by the Lord Jesus Christ, was threefold, “write the things which you have seen”, that is the vision of Jesus Christ, standing among the lampstands, in glory, as described in Revelation 1. Second he was to write the things which are, that is the condition of the churches, in this world, as described in the seven letters to the churches. From the vantage point of the things that are, the sight of the...

Noam Chomsky is a linguist and political philosopher of dubious repute, who remains, in spite of his errors and failed predictions, the Left’s “rabbi, our preacher, our rinpoche, our sensei.” This week at CounterContempt, David Stein announced the release of letters he says shed harsh light on one of Chomsky’s most troubling associations: his literary relationship with a Holocaust denier. As Stein explains: In the late 1970s and early ‘80s, leftist author, professor, and anti-Israel activist Noam Chomsky became embroiled in what would become known as “The Faurisson Affair.” In 1979, a professor of literature at the University of Lyon,...

Are you concerned about the growing government debt crisis? Are you outraged by some of the pensions that government employees are getting? Well, forget the facts of the situation, economist Teresa Ghilarducci has a couch in her office and has determined you suffer from government "pension envy". I kid you not. Ghilarducci, an economics professor at The New School, in New York City, writes in a blog post titled, Pension Envy: Bashing Public Employees: Envy is a celebrity (sic?) deadly sin, many philosophers think it's the worst. Joseph Epstein writes in Envy, "Envy clouds thought, clobbers generosity, precludes any hope...

The room was packed with dignitaries last week as President Barack Obama addressed the annual National Prayer Breakfast. But Mr. Obama singled out one person—Sen. Tom Coburn—as a particular friend and "brother in Christ." "I keep praying that God will show him the light, and he will vote with me once in a while," Mr. Obama told the crowd, to laughter. "It's going to happen, Tom!" he added playfully. "A ray of light is going to beam down!"
