Thanks for posting. Just getting my first glimpse of Walker. On the substance, of course I agree. I was interested in his abilities as a speaker/salesman/persuader also, just fwiw.

Compared to Christie here in NJ, Walker comes off as pretty stiff. No humor. He uses the stock phony-looking politician hand gestures. Not much gut-level emotion. I doubt anyone will be saying he should be president someday. He makes Mitch Daniels seem charismatic.

I don’t get it here for another hour and a half. How did he do?

Public employee unions are inherently a conflict of interest and should be outlawed. Such unions should only be permitted when there is separation between those who decide compensation and benefits and those who are elected to public office. Is that the case anywhere?

Walker had a chance to address this and backed away.

Oh, I don't know, I like Walker's direct, logical, no-nonsense business-like approach. Not all politicians have to play the room like a lounge lizard.

A cut out the bull shiite and get down to business attitude is exactly what is needed in Wisconsin right now and is exactly what is needed in Washington DC right now. I think a lot of people would agree with me and would look seriously at Walker as potential POTUS material.

I think he did great and stayed on topic not allowing the conversation to be sidetracked from what he wanted to discuss.

Sure, if you think charisma has no place in leadership, he's your guy.

I must have seen a different video. Walker was fantastic. Very smooth talker, no stammering or stumbling. Nice looking, serious man. I think he should have mentioned there are 22 other states that are “Right to Work” but, other than that, he was great.

>>>>>Public employee unions are inherently a conflict of interest and should be outlawed.

The liberal icon of all time, FDR, opposed public sector unions. So did another famous liberal, albeit a liberal Republican. Former NYC Mayor, Fiorello LaGuardia.

Obama offered a worthless budget last week that didn't include spending cuts. Then he proceeded to slam Gov Walker for his efforts to reign in spending by reforming public employee benefits.

Americans are fed up with unions and their big union socialist leadership. Unions are quickly fading out and they deserve to die off.

Scott seemed nervous in this video. He’s been better elsewhere. I think maybe the national spotlight has him a bit rattled.

We keep asking for Republicans to grown a spine, get some stones, etc. Walker is doing just that and, although he may not be charismatic, he is standing firm and is setting an excellent example for Republicans. I’m impressed.

He was fine on the substance, and like you say, he didn't stammer. OK, fine. He didn't drool either. That's the bar?

Look, I'm with him on the substance. I was just curious to get a look at him in terms of overall presentation skills. It's obvious he's not presidential material. Which is fine. We need good governors, too.

Amazingly, Bill Kristol just restated my point in the round table discussion.

Well he's right on the issues, so hopefully that carries the day. People should not underestimate the importance of the salesman in any sale though. Yes, the product matters. But don't underestimate the importance of a good pitchman. And to me, it's one third of good executive leadership.

You need good judgement (the right ideas), good people (good management skill), and the ability to sell (build rapport, persuade others, gain trust.)

Oh, sure. They co-opted the GOP in 1962. Still doesn’t mean forming the Republican Party was a bad idea in the first place does it? ;)

Walker has yet to complete the requirements necessary to obtain a college degree. While he did heat things in Milwaukee County as their Exec and has started out extremely well as our governor, sad to say he will not be taken seriously by many without that diploma.

Who in your expert opinion is POTUS material? Sarah Palin? Interesting on the basis of one news interview you can so rapidly conclude this. If you watched his press conference on Friday, I would ask you to name one GOP politician who would have done as good a job.
