An Arkansas woman who went to pick up the class ring she ordered from Walmart left disappointed, after store officials told her the retailer's new policy barred them from turning the item over -- because it bore an image of the Confederate flag. Elaine Glidewell told KFSM someone from the store in Fort Smith called her to pick up the ring she'd ordered for her nephew, but when she arrived on Tuesday, a clerk told her she couldn’t have it. It is commonly said by those opposed to the second amendment, that police will not be able to discern armed citizens who are legally carrying guns from criminals, and that armed confrontations will then result in widespread carnage. Sources tell 40/29 News that Whirlpool will be closing its Fort Smith plant sometime in mid-2012. The factory employed 4,600 in 2006. The company said that all Fort Smith production will shift to existing plants in the U.S. and Mexico "to leverage the resources and excess capacity at those facilities."

FORT SMITH, Ark. -- A judge on Thursday set a Sept. 19 hearing for two men arrested after allegedly disrupting a flight Thursday. The hearing will determine whether there was probable cause and set bond. An affidavit said the pair of men aroused suspicions aboard a Northwest Airlines jet Thursday by disobeying a flight attendant.
