The German economy has been one of the wonders of the world over the last couple of years. While the rest of Europe staggered, German unemployment fell to the lowest level in decades. This week the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the club of developed economies around the world, issued a new “Economic Survey of Germany.” The biggest challenge it could find facing the country was finding enough workers. It recommended steps to encourage more women to work. “Please accept our sincere congratulations for a well-managed economy,” said Angel Gurría, the O.E.C.D.’s secretary general, in a speech in Berlin....

I've added a link at the top of the latest posts pages to view "Selected Free Republic McCain vs Obama promo videos." We usually only run these kind of promos during our FReepathons, but I thought I'd continue these selected videos until the election is over. We're now receiving nearly 2,000,000 page views per day from 200,000 to 300,000 daily visitors. Half of these visits are from new visitors. I'd like to give them all an opportunity to see and hear the truth about The One, That One, The Marxist Obamessiah. Please bear with me. I'll take them down after...

Without giving away the store, what did you old Freepers do after we won, when the chips were down because Gore wouldn't concede? What did you do in response to November 21, 2000, when the Florida Supreme Court ruled in favor of Gore. I'm sure some then then felt all was lost. What did you do then to persevere and ensure that Gore didn't steal the election? If conservatives didn't have the resolve to appeal to the Supreme Court, Gore may have prevailed. I pray that if we are in a similar situation McCain will have the resolve to fight...

The popular vote is irrelevent. It's unlikely McCain will win the popular vote. Obama will likely win California and New York by 25 or 30 points or more. And black turnout in the South will reduce McCain's margins to single digits. But who cares? Whether you win a state by 1% or 20%, a win is a win is a win in the electoral college. All McCain has to do is hold the Bush states and steal Pennsylvania. I believe whoever wins PA will win the election. The west is hard because of the growth in the hispanic population and...

Liberals have become so crass, so ignorant of history, and so idealogically blinded that we can now call them "National Socialists" without them realizing that we just painted them as NAZIs. We called Obama a socialist because he definitely is one. We've been countered with, "What's wrong with socialism?" Now we can simply call them National Socialists. They don't even KNOW we've just called them NAZIs. Give it a try and see how it plays. Report back on this thread for others to learn. What's wrong with socialism? BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: Now, on Charlie Rose Show last night on PBS. Are they doing their pledge drive yet? Is PBS doing their drive? Because, you know, "Without your Pledge, we cannot dust." He had on Tom Brokaw last night, ladies and gentlemen. Here's a montage. Now, this is last night. As you listen to this, keep in mind everything you've heard from Brokaw and others in the Drive-Bys can for the past six months, three months, two months or whatever. This is a montage of Charlie Rose and Brokaw trying to figure out who Obama is. ROSE: I don't...

Given Cass Sunstein's prominence in the Obama campaign, it is fair to ask the Senator: "do you support the second bill of rights?" which was part of FDR's "unfinished revolution" Go to Wikipedia.org. Learn about the real agenda of Obama.

When Barack Obama announced that he was running for president he was very clear that, if elected, he planned "not just to hold an office, but to gather with you to transform a nation". Twenty months after that statement in Springfield Illinois, we now have a much clearer view of what he means by "Change We Can Believe In". In a campaign of soaring generalizations on mostly centrist themes, Barack Obama has described the details of the transformation he would bring with almost surgical precision. What he offers may be, in substance and in spirit, a radical departure from the...

Barack Obama says if you don't want to hike your taxes, you're selfish. Speaking in Sarasota, Fla., Thursday, Obama said he wanted to change the tax code to help the middle class and charged that in opposing his tax raising programs, Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin were making a "virtue out of selfishness." Writing in the ABC News Political Punch blog, senior national correspondent Jake Tapper reported that Obama insisted that he has nothing against the rich. "The reason that we want to do this, change our tax code, is not because I have anything against the rich,"...

A state agency has revealed that its checks of computer systems for potential information on "Joe the Plumber" were more extensive than it first acknowledged. Helen Jones-Kelley, director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, disclosed today that computer inquiries on Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher were not restricted to a child-support system. The agency also checked Wurzelbacher in its computer systems to determine whether he was receiving welfare assistance or owed unemployment compensation taxes, she wrote. Jones-Kelley made the revelations in a letter to Ohio Senate President Bill M. Harris, R-Ashland, who demanded answers on why state officials checked...

Jack WELCH, former CEO of GE said on Kudlow that 'I don't know how any businessman could (come out or vote?) for Obama. Welch explained that Rhode Island has an 8% unemployment rate, and that's 40% higher than the 6% in the rest of country. Welch said that McCAin needs to hit that, because the reason for that 8% in R.I. is directly from the higher taxes in that state, which is highest taxed businesses in U. S. Jack Welch also condemned the Obama support for "no secret votes on Unions", which Welch said should never happen.

As reported on another thread: "Major Garrett reports from Hawaii 10 minutes ago that David Axelrod the Campaign Manager for Barack Obama says as of this morning the campaign had a meeting in Chicago and according to internal numbers they have "a clear road to victory holding all Kerry states while picking up Ohio, Florida, Colorado, Nevada and Virginia with an excellent shot at Montana, North Carolina, West Virginia, and Indiana." They are saying they will get to 400 EV's election night." And I just heard through the grapevine yesterday that McCain-Palin are needing grassroots support in battleground states like...

I HAVE A DREAM for Sen. Barack Obama. I have a dream that one day, for just 24 hours, he could be Sarah Palin. OK, maybe that’s less of a dream and more a plot point from a bad Lindsay Lohan movie (redundancy alert!). But imagine the Democratic nominee’s day as Barack Palin Obama: He wake up and reaches for a secret cigarette and a copy of The New York Times [NYT]. Instead of the usual partisan puff pieces (“Obama Health Care Plan Pledges Miraculous Healings For All”), the Times is running exposes about his family. Does his spouse have...

WASHINGTON (AFP) — The choice by Republican presidential candidate John McCain of 44-year-old Sarah Palin as his running mate failed to woo young voters and even turned some of them off McCain, a Harvard University pollster said Wednesday. "During the vice presidential selection process, I took a lot of phone calls from reporters, pundits and campaign people who thought the Palin pick was going to re-energize the youth vote and get young people to take a second look at McCain," John Della Volpe, director of polling at Harvard's Institute of Politics, told reporters. "We now have data that indicate that...

(LAS VEGAS) - At a rally here today, the Alaska governor’s stump speech was dominated by women’s issues, as she was joined on stage by five female leaders. “And if I’m given the honor of serving you in the White House, I intend to advance that creed in our own nation and beyond because across the world, there are still places where women are subjugated and persecuted as they were in Afghanistan, places we’re they’re bullied and brutalized and murdered in honor killings, places where women are sold like commodities in the nightmare world of the sex trade, and places...

(COLORADO SPRINGS) In the past two days alone, Palin has answered questions from her national press corps on three separate occasions. On Saturday, she held another plane availability, and on Sunday, she offered an impromptu press conference on the tarmac upon landing in Colorado Springs. A few minutes later, she answered even more questions from reporters during an off-the-record stop at a local ice cream shop. By contrast, Biden hasn’t held a press conference in more than a month, and Obama hasn’t taken questions from his full traveling press corps since the end of September. John McCain—who spent most of...
