WASHINGTON (AFP) — The choice by Republican presidential candidate John McCain of 44-year-old Sarah Palin as his running mate failed to woo young voters and even turned some of them off McCain, a Harvard University pollster said Wednesday.

"During the vice presidential selection process, I took a lot of phone calls from reporters, pundits and campaign people who thought the Palin pick was going to re-energize the youth vote and get young people to take a second look at McCain," John Della Volpe, director of polling at Harvard's Institute of Politics, told reporters.

"We now have data that indicate that the choice of Palin didn't help and probably hurt the Republican ticket," he said, as he presented the findings of a poll on young voters' attitudes

The liberal press is gunning for Gov. Palin. They will fail as they always do.

BTW, notice how they are playing up the youth vote, as they have since McGovern back in 72, and as always the youth vote never shows up.

I’ve noticed the “Palin brought down the ticket” meme a couple times today.

Anybody want to buy a bridge in Brooklyn or some oceanfront property in Arizona?

With the media coverage Palin is getting, young voters would see Jesus as unqualified to be President.

Who did they poll? Youth hanging at the corners. Youth brainwashed by their cacademics? Youth signing up “voters” for 20 bucks a pop?

I cannot think of one nice thing to say or think about a reporter. In fact I cannot even think of anything about the 4th estate without lapsing into vulgarity. Just nasty brutish people.

The truth is probably the opposite. The MSM/Drivebys are very worried. The youth have never turned out in any election to determine the outcome.

Now, now, you know that His disciple is running on the Democrat Party ticket, right? :)

It’s a stupid meme in an election that has featured some real doozies. Young people at Harvard were never going to vote for McCain. They’re too Enlightened.

Cracks me up. All the mass media outlets catering to young people- MTV, Nickalodeon, etc. pummel a candidate for a solid month. Then the media weasels run out and poll them with their stories already written.

One day there will be a reckoning.

If Palin is bringing down the ticket then why:

1) Was the RNC the most watched covnention in history?

2) Why did 70 million turn in for the VP debate?

3) Why are there people in droves turning out to see her at campaign rallies?

4) Why SNL had the highest ratings in 14 years when she was on?

Riiiiight...she’s really bringing down the ticket...

MSM would have the same issue no matter who McCain picked...

If McCain Picked Romney: McCain + Mitt average age of 68, IS THIS TO OLD TO GOVERN???

If McCain Picked any other MAN: WHEN will the GOP STOP picking WHITE MEN and come into the 21st century.....bla bla bla

all bullshit from MSM

I smell the very strong odor of fear emitting from RINO’s and the left. Just another try to insert a wedge. Look at the other articles like “Is Palin distancing herself from McCain?”. Just weasel talk.

This is utter nonsense! What kind of logic would a young person use to diss Palin! It fails the common sense test. What would you expect from leftists looking and looking for angles and ways to discredit Sarah Palin. These pollsters are morons and dregs, IMO.
