TAMPA - Congresswoman Katherine Harris, Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate, received positive results from a biopsy taken during last week's surgery to remove an ovarian mass. The Attending Physicians office contacted Harris on Monday to inform her that the mass was benign and that no further tests are required. "I appreciate all the kind words and prayers leading up to the surgery and throughout my recovery," Harris said in a statement. "Thankfully, I had a good surgeon and a great God."

Excerpt: July 23, 2006 KISSIMMEE -- If she hadn't had surgery last week, Republican U.S. Senate candidate Katherine Harris said, she would have arrived at a GOP picnic on horseback Saturday. Instead, she made her entrance by helicopter, flown by a friend from the nearby city airport to the Kissimmee Sports Arena. "If I could have been Wendy on Peter Pan, I couldn't have had more fun," Harris said. "I am feeling great." The Republican congresswoman from Longboat Key underwent surgery to remove an ovarian mass on Monday. A day later, she was back on the floor of Congress, voting...

Friday, June 02, 2006 Immigration Reform Requires Securing Our Borders First Katherine Harris Immigration reform is the most pressing issue facing our country today. As a nation of laws, we can ill afford our borders to be operated as though under a state of lawlessness. The rule of law must be enforced - and securing our borders is one of our highest priorities in the post-9/11 environment. Law-abiding U.S. citizens traveling from one city in our own country to another on a commercial airliner face greater scrutiny than those crossing our borders. Absent securing our borders, terrorists seeking ill-will against...

Someone with better access to Florida's election data that I am can now settle a question leftover from the 2000 Election. As you'll recall, the tv networks called Florida for Gore before the polls had even closed in the Central Time Zone part of the state, depressing the amount of votes Bush likely would have received. Now that the 2004 Election is over, it's possible to extrapolate how much that early call may have cost Bush. 1. Take the Florida counties that are in the Central Time Zone. Count the total number of votes cast in the presidential elections in...
