Google’s Android has gobbled up market share world wide, now accounting for over 80% of all smartphone shipped globally. But when it comes to actually making money, Apple is eating all the profits as it continues its focus on premium devices. Today Strategy Analytics said that Apple in Q4 last year accounted for 89% of all smartphone profits, equating to $18.8 billion, with Android taking only 11%, or $2.4 billion. The blow for Android is softened only slightly less so only by the fact that other platform players like Microsoft, Blackberry and Firefox seemingly made no profit at all.

Last week I had a very wierd computer glitch. It screwed up my text fonts, desktop icons and other stuff. At any rate I have gotten things mostly back under control, except for one thing. Java scripts refuse to run in Firefox. I have updated Firefox, I have update Java, I have gone through everywhere I can think of to enable Java script, but it still will not run. Does anyone have any suggestians on how to fix this or what the problem might be? It has me flummoxed. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Just a quick question. I'd like to get rid of Firefox and replace it. Party due to the ousting of Brendan Eich, partly because it keeps on wanting to install updates on my Mac, and then giving me the pinwheel of death. Google Chrome is out due to Net Neutrality. I am using WIN 8.1 OS and yesterday the latest version of Firefox was updated on to my computer. I can't access the browser as when I open it, the page is blank and I get the "page is not responding." According to my computer, it is telling me that this latest browser is NOT compatible with OS 8.1. I am unable to go back to an earlier version of Firefox. Any advice would be most appreciated!

I have long ago "cut the plug" and watch movies and TV exclusively thru the internet using sites like Veetle, Solar Movies, an Movies4k. I have always used no script and AdBlockplus as these sites are notorious for popups and ads...but once defeated the content is amazing. Recently I noticed videos have been lagging. The sound is fine but the picture keeps studdering/ quickly freezing and unfreezing. I have done all I can think, cleared temp files, reinstalled firefox, no success. I then disabled all add-ons and BINGO-movies now playing perfect-no lag...but the damn ads are back! When I reinstall...

OK, this is weird. Starting yesterday, my Firefox browser (was version 32.0) would not make bookmarks to pages on conservative sites. Free Republic, Hot Air, Lucianne... It worked on non-political sites just fine. This morning I updated to Version 33.0, and the problem still persists. I checked at Democratic Underground and Daily Kos, and they bookmark normally, but Again/still Free Republic, Hot Air and Lucianne.com will not do bookmarks.

I have been using Firefox for some time with little problem. But today when I used it it had slowed to a crawl -- unusably slow, really. A page takes 3-4 minutes to load. I have changed nothing on my PC. My internet speed checks fine (I use Verizon). Can anyone give a suggestion to clear this up? Thanks.

Mozilla recently decided to add DRM in Firefox even if Mozilla hates it.
