The Polish government revealed a homeland defense bill on Tuesday, which could see a massive boost to the country's military. The leader of the ruling Law and Justice party (PiS), Jaroslaw Kaczynski, who is also deputy prime minister, said the bill comes as a response to current global trends and Poland's political geography. Speaking at a news conference in Warsaw, Kaczynski cited "Russia's imperial ambitions" and the migrant challenge on its eastern border with Belarus as top security challenges. "If we want to avoid the worst, that is war, we have to act according to the old rule: 'If you...

President Andrzej Duda said Thursday at NATO headquarters in Brussels that a beefed up military presence along NATO’s eastern flank is needed given concerns over Russian’s intentions in the region. “This cautiousness and vigilance from NATO, which is responsible for the military security of the allies, is necessary,” Duda told reporters after a meeting with NATO Secretary-General...

Poland To Double The Size Of Its Army, Citing “Russia’s Imperial Ambitions” Poland announced this past week that it plans to double the size of its army to 300,000 – which would make it the largest in the European Union – as it’s increasingly worried about destabilizing threats from Belarus, and also amid fresh Western media speculation of a Russian troop build-up near Ukraine. On Tuesday deputy prime minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski cited Poland’s sensitive geopolitical location as a buffer between central Europe and Russia, noting “Russia’s imperial ambitions” and the “hybrid warfare” waged by Lukashenko’s Belarus in the form of...

The wall will cost an estimated 353 million euros ($407 million) and is planned to stretch over more than 100 kilometres (60 miles) on the European Union's eastern border. Polish President Andrzej Duda vowed to sign the emergency legislation within the coming days. Thousands of migrants and refugees -- mostly from the Middle East and Africa -- have tried to cross the Polish border from Belarus since August. Poland has responded to the unprecedented influx by sending thousands of soldiers to the border and implementing a state of emergency there, as well as hastily building a razor-wire fence.

The repercussions over Poland’s unwillingness to adhere to European law are increasing by the day, with the EU leaders divided and its institutions at war. However the situation is resolved, it’s proving very damaging to the bloc. Poland’s refusal to bow to European Union pressure has revealed a fissure at the heart of the bloc. Brussels simply does not know how to proceed in its battle with Poland over the supremacy of EU law. Some want the Poles punished now, others want more negotiations, while Hungary is steadfastly standing by its ally. European leaders met on Thursday in Brussels to...

Poland summoned the Belarusian charge d'affaires on Friday, a foreign ministry spokesman said, after border guards accused the Belarusian side of shooting at Polish soldiers patrolling the frontier. Poland has imposed a state of emergency on the Belarusian border amid a surge in migrants from countries such as Afghanistan and Iraq trying to cross, in what Brussels and Warsaw say is a form of hybrid warfare designed to put pressure on the bloc over sanctions it imposed on Minsk.

This was the first time a member of the ruling party openly stated it was considering withdrawing from the EU. Ryszard Terlecki, a leading Law and Justice (PiS) figure, who is at the same time the chief party whip and a deputy speaker of the Polish parliament, created an unexpected crisis when he told a conference in Karpacz that the EU “should be what is acceptable to us” and that “if it goes as it is likely to go, we must look for drastic solutions. The British showed us that the dictatorship of the Brussels bureaucracy did not suit them...

As night began to fall on 31 August, 1939, a small, hand-picked team of SS troops crept into the then German city of Gleiwitz. Disguised as Polish saboteurs, their mission was to launch an attack on the city's main radio station to give Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler a justification for invading Poland. It was part of what was codenamed Operation Himmler - the false flag attacks carried out by the Fuhrer's military intelligence service the Abwehr, along with the feared SS and the Gestapo to give the impression of Polish aggression towards Germany. Entering through the back door, they locked...

Poland’s long-running dispute with the European Union over the rule of law escalated on Friday after Małgorzata Manowska, the chief justice of the country’s Supreme Court, said the institution would refuse to comply with new orders issued by the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU). Earlier this week, the CJEU ruled that Poland’s system for disciplining judges, introduced in 2017 under the conservative-nationalist Law and Justice party, contravenes EU law. It ordered the suspension of the disciplinary chamber which forms part of Poland’s Supreme Court. CJEU found that the chamber “does not provide all the guarantees of impartiality...

Previously, we have reported on the former USA President Barack Obama and his clear disdain for the Christian cultures of Poland and Hungary. In an interview with ‘comedian’ Trevor Noah in January, Obama stated that Viktor Orbán was part of a ‘strong man’ style of politics. […] In a new interview, Obama has incredibly referred to both Poland and Hungary as being ‘authoritarian’. For what purpose? Likely because of their high birth rates, their religiosity, their reluctance towards Americanization. In the interview on CNN with Anderson Cooper, who once worked for the CIA, Obama refers to them as being ‘authoritarian’...

The phrase “gender equality” has been removed from the declaration on social issues to be adopted by EU leaders at their social summit in Porto later on Friday (7 May) after Poland and Hungary opposed the expression. The phrase was replaced by a reference to a previous document, the European Pillar of Social Rights, which includes “gender equality”. The latest compromise is part of a trend that has been going in the EU, with mostly Hungary and Poland, sometimes joined by Slovakia, Bulgaria, pushing for “gender equality” to be deleted from different EU texts. The nationalist-conservative governments in Budapest and...

The Polish government will not include the possibility of a third gender – separate from male and female – when it implements new harmonised European Union identity cards. It says it does not want to be part of an “ideological revolution”, but some lawyers believe this could breach EU law and an opposition MP has promised legal action.

Summary Poland is openly leading a coup in Belarus. The massive protests that gripped Belarus after the presidential elections are causing concern in the West. At the same time, Polish politicians are the most active in commenting on the events in the neighbouring country. Poland initiated a discussion to overthrow Lukashenko at the EU level. On August 9, presidential elections were held in Belarus which Alexander Lukashenko won. Western countries, for which the Belarusian leader had been a hindrance for a long time, did not put up with the voting results. As a result, pre-planned riots broke out in Belarus....

Poland and Hungary won’t get with the LGBT program, and that makes the European Union mad. On March 11 the European Parliament declared the European Union an “LGBTIQ Freedom Zone” in response to the growth of official LGBT-ideology free zones in Poland and Hungary’s own lack of enthusiasm for the new secularist LGBT religion. According to the European Parliament’s own newspaper, Poland and Hungary are notable for their “backsliding.” “In response to the backsliding of LGBTIQ rights in some EU countries, notably Poland and Hungary, MEPs declared the EU an ‘LGBTIQ Freedom Zone’ on Thursday,” wrote the European Parliament News....

Archaeologists recently unearthed the skeletons of three Catholic nuns who were murdered by Soviet soldiers at the end of World War II. Their discovery concludes a months-long search for the bones of seven nuns who were killed during the former Soviet Union's brutal occupation of the war-torn country. Russia's Red Army invaded Poland [again] in 1944, as Nazi Germany withdrew their soldiers. During that time, Soviet forces sought to seize control by suppressing Polish militia and religious figures, imprisoning, deporting and killing Polish soldiers, clergy and civilians. Records from 1945 documented Soviet soldiers slaughtering seven nuns in the order of...

Internet censorship by Big Tech companies is a big problem, a threat to our freedom of speech and our ability to organize politically. Just look at the lead-up to the 2020 U.S. election, in which Big Tech carefully managed the flow of information to favor one candidate. It’s interesting to see what the Central European nation of Poland is doing about it....

Poland is taking a stand against the Big Tech conglomerate, proposing whopping fines for platforms that censor or remove posts for ideological reasons, according to the country’s Deputy Minister of Justice Sebastian Kaleta. In a Fox News interview, Kaleta said social media companies have been targeting Christianity, conservatives and traditional values through their blacklisting and removal of posts. “We see that when Big Tech decides to remove content for political purposes, it’s mostly content which praises traditional values or praises conservatism,” Kaleta said. “It is deleted under their ‘hate speech policy’ when it has no legal right to do so.”...
