Former House Speaker Paul Ryan weighed in on the current struggle for the Republican conference to elect a new speaker of the House following the historic ouster of former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA). Of the publicly fractured House Republicans, he said the conference is "basically a bifurcated coalition government,” referencing the growing division and significantly differing factions within the party. “This is a political-leaning conference right now, not a policy-leaning conference,” he said in an interview with Politico. He explained this resulted because “our party is a populist-leaning party right now, not a policy-leaning party.” During his time in office,...

Overnight President Trump responded to the Supreme Court’s action to threw out his case with Texas and twenty states over the absolutely rigged election of 2020: No court will judge the President’s case on its merits:

Navarro wrote a USA Today op-ed published on Tuesday that argued the nation’s leading expert on infectious diseases “has been wrong about everything I have interacted with him on.” The White House immediately distanced itself from Navarro’s piece and said the article didn’t go through the normal clearance process. “We are all on the same team, including Dr. Fauci. I have a very good relationship with Dr. Fauci,” Trump told reporters Wednesday. “Everybody's working on the same line, and we are doing very well.” “He made a statement representing himself. He shouldn’t be doing that,” Trump said about Navarro’s opinion...

Former Attorney General Jeff Sessions publicly called out President Trump on Twitter late Friday for continuing to whine about his decision to recuse himself from the Russia investigation. ... “Look, I know your anger, but recusal was required by law,” Sessions wrote. “I did my duty & you're damn fortunate I did. It protected the rule of law & resulted in your exoneration. Your personal feelings don't dictate who Alabama picks as their senator, the people of Alabama do.”

A federal judge on Tuesday refused to delay Roger Stone's sentencing amid the fallout over the Trump administration's decision to intervene in the case against the president's longtime ally. The sentencing will move forward on Thursday at its originally scheduled time, the judge said, despite a new effort from Stone's defense team to get a new trial. "I think that delaying this sentence would not be a prudent thing to do under all of the circumstances," U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson, an Obama appointee, said during a telephone conference with the two sides. The original team of prosecutors...

If Democrats hope to narrow the field in their presidential primary, they’ll have to look past Nevada’s caucuses. With a week to go — and with early voting set to start today — six candidates now poll in double digits in the latest Review-Journal/AARP survey. Bernie Sanders leads with 25%, but Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren are not far behind, with Tom Steyer, Pete Buttigieg, and Amy Klobuchar all getting 10% or more as well.Anyone else see the train wreck coming? Sanders led the pack with 25 percent of respondents expressing support, followed by former Vice President Joe Biden...

Before breaking his silence Thursday in an interview with ABC News, Attorney General William Barr complained privately "for weeks" to President Donald Trump about his tweets and public statements related to Justice Department investigations, a person familiar with the matter said Friday. Despite those apparent warnings, however, Trump over the past several weeks was unrelenting in his targeting of his various political enemies in speeches and over Twitter like former FBI Director James Comey, former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and former special counsel Robert Mueller. In fact, Barr sat in the front row during a post-impeachment event at the...

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., told "Special Report with Bret Baier" Thursday that if Attorney General William Barr believes the president's tweeting is getting in the way of Barr's work, Trump should follow the attorney general's cue. "The president made a great choice when he picked Bill Barr to be the attorney general," McConnell told host Bret Baier. "I think the president should listen to his advice."

It’s beginning to look like Rep. Adam Schiff isn’t content with simply ousting the president, instead hinting that he’s going for a total sweep of the White House by involving the vice president as well. The move would seemingly put his ally and fellow California Democrat, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, in charge of the United States. The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee hinted at the bombshell turn in a Dec. 18 talk with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow. Maddow asked Schiff about his continuing role in the impeachment of President Donald Trump. COMMENTARY Schiff Goes for Total Coup, Now Targeting Pence...

PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — President Donald Trump said Tuesday that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un may be planning to give him “a nice present” such as a “beautiful vase” for Christmas rather than a missile launch. The president was asked what he will do if North Korea does conduct a long-range missile test. The North has threatened to take unspecified action if sanctions are not eased by the end of the year, and speculation has centered on the possibility of a new missile test, possibly of an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of delivering a nuclear warhead. The North...

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez continued her war of words with Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday night, calling the Speaker of the House “outright disrespectful” for criticizing women of color. The Bronx Democrat was reacting to Pelosi’s repeated attempts at reigning in some of the more left-wing members of her caucus and chastising the freshman reps for tweeting too much. “When these comments first started, I kind of thought that she was keeping the progressive flank at more of an arm’s distance in order to protect more moderate members, which I understood,” Ocasio-Cortez told the Washington Post. “But the persistent singling out —...

House Democrats exploded in anger Wednesday over Attorney General William Barr’s plans to roll out special counsel Robert Mueller’s report, accusing the Justice Department of trying to spin the report’s contents and protect President Donald Trump. Barr and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein will hold a press conference at 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning to review the report, which may be heavily redacted. Reports that DOJ officials have already discussed Mueller’s findings with the White House only further inflamed tensions. “I’m deeply troubled by reports that the WH is being briefed on the Mueller report AHEAD of its release,” tweeted House...

Special counsel Robert Mueller has been pursuing several Russia collusion leads even as a number of media outlets say his final report is due soon, according to court filings and sources. Former acting Attorney General Matthew G. Whitaker said in January that he had been read-in on the nearly two-year probe and concluded it was “close to being completed.” But there are signs that Russia issues remain: • Court filings in the prosecution of former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort show that Mr. Mueller is still investigating a fall 2016 meeting at a Manhattan cigar bar where the lifting of...

Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton suggested Sunday that Barack Obama's campaign had injected racial tension into the presidential contest, saying her comments about Martin Luther King's role in the civil rights movement had been "distorted" by Obama's supporters. "This is an unfortunate story line the Obama campaign has pushed very successfully," the former first lady said in a spirited appearance on NBC's "Meet the Press." "I don't think this campaign is about gender, and I sure hope it's not about race." Clinton taped the show before campaign appearances in South Carolina, whose Jan. 26 primary will be the first to include...
