As it pertains to the American public, Ukraine’s response to the Russian invasion can be summed up with two words: "Zelensky demands."As of this writing, US aid for Ukraine has reached approximately $67.5 billion, a figure greater than Russia’s entire 2021 military budget. According to the State Department, this support includes $15.2 billion in direct military assistance. The support comes although 60-70 percent of lethal aid never reaches the front lines, according to a now-redacted CBS interview with on-the-ground activists. Not only is the American taxpayer supporting much of the Ukrainian military, it is also supporting the Ukrainian government. WASHINGTON - In 2018, Bob Dole arose from his wheelchair to salute the American flag-draped casket of George H.W. Bush — reaching past decades of a fierce political rivalry to offer a touching final tribute from one World War II veteran to another. As an aide lifted him from his wheelchair, Dole slowly steadied himself before Bush’s casket in the Capitol Rotunda and saluted his one-time nemesis with his left hand, a necessity after he was hit by a shell fragment in Italy in 1945 and never regained use of his right hand.

Remember stories like this from the 1990s (or for that matter from 1980 about Reagan, age 69 at the time)? Remember all the stories like this last year about 77-year-old Joe Biden? Me neither. Mark Perry has struck again, finding that Ohio State University—I mean, THE Ohio State University—has a diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI, but really “DIE” if you arrange the letters accurately) staff of 132, with an average salary of $77,000 and total estimated payroll cost of $13.4 million, which would cover in-state tuition for 1,120 students. Here are the first 34 officers—notice not only the salary levels...

Bob Dole was a happy undergrad at the University of Kansas in 1942. “He didn’t want to go to war,” Richard Ben Cramer writes in chapter 5 of What It Takes: The Way to the White House, his doorstop “masterpiece” (as Jonathan Martin called it when Cramer died in 2013). Dole was happily “fooling around” on campus and at his fraternity, pursuing his studies, going out for football, baseball, and track. When he heard the footsteps of the draft board after him, however, he enlisted in the Army. By the spring of 1944 he had risen to the rank of...
