Have the Democrats (like Sen. Bob Graham who is the Ranking member on the Senate Inelligence committee) timing their attacks on the President in reponse to a spike in chatter? Sen. Graham and others attacked the President's handling of the War on Terror right before (and after) the recent bombings in Riyadh. Graham'a attacks came right on the heels of State Department travel warnings for Saudi Arabia and news reports warning of a "reconstituted" AL Qaeda.
