Pelosi: 'Polls Are Still Open' House Speaker Nancy Pelosi spoke to volunteers in Washington, D.C., as election results began trickling in.

WASHINGTON -- The Obama White House doesn't "subscribe to the legitimacy" of the 100-day metric for presidential progress, but is mighty satisfied with the new president's accomplishments...... the suggestion that Obama had been more productive than Franklin Delano Roosevelt in his first 100 days (the president whose scale of activity first generated 100-day assessments of subsequent presidencies) was left on the table. When asked if that was the proper interpretation, the adviser said Obama's had been the most productive since FDR.

Greece's prime minister promised Wednesday to hold safe and successful Olympics despite "choking deadlines" in construction and admissions by his ministers of delays in security preparations at two key sites. "Not a single hour can be wasted," Premier Costas Caramanlis said in an interview with a magazine issued by organizers of the Aug. 13-29 Games. "Everyone knows that four months before the Olympic Games we are facing chocking deadlines."
