As Jazz Shaw pointed out earlier, the chairman of the Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a statement yesterday directly contradicting something that has been said Monday by one of the CPSC’s board members. Monday’s statement, which was part of an interview, indicated that the board was looking at banning gas stoves. Yesterday’s statement said they definitely were not.In between those two statements there was all sorts of activity from those who supported the gas stove ban and from those who opposed it. But the key point here is that a member of the government body with regulatory control over gas...

[PHOTO] Does the term “Liar” apply to those in the flailing Democrat Leadership? Those who seem to just spew for effect whatever negatives they want to say about President Trump, Conservatism, and You? About us? I mean, they say a lot of crazed-sounding things; like Trump killed Christ; like “illegals” are “good for America;” like Trump triggers witches ( who the hell CARES ); and, like when they rant, “walls don’t work.” ”Frequently when President Trump says something, the media follow his statements with three words: "with no evidence." For example: He says there are criminals and terrorists in the...

Alabama voters are increasingly skeptical of the accusations against GOP Senate nominee Roy Moore, according to new polling released this week that also shows Mr. Moore has recovered his lead in the race. In the middle of November Mr. Moore had lost his lead in the Change Research survey of voters, but is once again back on top in a survey Monday with a 49-44 advantage, the polling company said. Perhaps most striking is that Republicans are growing more skeptical

Dane County Sheriff Dave Mahoney told the State Journal on Monday he had never discussed marijuana legalization with Gov. Scott Walker, but in a radio interview last year he discussed such a conversation. Mahoney initially disputed a story Gov. Scott Walker told last week in response to a question about marijuana legalization at a luncheon in Phoenix emceed by conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt. Mahoney later acknowledged the conversation after listening to a recording of the radio interview, but emphasized that it was "in passing" and that he has no recollection of it. At the Phoenix event Walker said he...

Pollster Celinda Lake's advice to fellow Democrats to take a midway position in the 2014 congressional campaigns is flawed because it can't be sold as honest. Reacting to results from her bipartisan Battleground Poll that show Obamacare to be a political loser, Lake said: "Don't defend it. Say it was flawed from the beginning and we're going to fix it." Note that she didn't advise to reject it outright, apparently because she knows that's never going to fly with Obama and the Democratic establishment and probably because it would be tantamount to an admission that the party has failed in...

Under the leadership of Harry Reid, and with the blessing of President Obama, Senate Democrats actually nuked the filibuster.According to Chris Cillizza, Sean Sullivan, the issue that Reid saw as important enough to do something he said would change the U.S. Senate forever is the confirmation of three nominees to the U.S. Court of Appeals – D.C. Circuit: This time around, Democrats have pushed three nominees to the crucial D.C. circuit court, which handles most of the critical cases on interpreting federal law. The Rs say the court — which tilts toward GOP-appointed judges at the moment — doesn’t need...

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man who was dressed in a squirrel costume was escorted from the Ohio Statehouse steps on Monday morning while Gov. Ted Strickland, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown and Mayor Michael Coleman were discussing negative campaigning by Republicans. The squirrel held up a sign that said, "Don't Let Obama + ACORN Steal Ohio." Strickland, Brown and Coleman stood on the Statehouse steps to call for an end to what they called "lying, deceitful ads" by Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain, 10TV's Patrick Bell reported. McCain's campaign accuses ACORN, a community activist group that operates nationwide, of perpetrating...

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - There are allegations of voter fraud, as a Dougherty County family claims the vote of a mentally challenged relative was stolen. They say the adult day rehab program where Jack Justice attends took him to vote, without the family's permission. What's worse is Justice says the person helping him wouldn't cast the ballot for his choice for President. Jack Justice has been voting since he turned 18. Typically his family takes him to their neighborhood precinct. This time Primus Industries, his adult day rehab program, took him to vote. His family was shocked, but what shocked...

Newly discovered documents from the Illinois state archives prove Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has lied about his opposition as an Illinois state senator to legislation requiring health officials to provide care to babies who survived abortion. Obama has repeatedly claimed he would have voted for Illinois’ version of the Born Alive Infant Protection Act (BAIPA) had it included language to protect abortion rights guaranteed by Roe v. Wade, as the federal version of the bill did, which sailed through the U.S. Senate 98-0. Contrary to what Obama has said, forgotten records from the Illinois Senate archives show Obama did...

The Dow Jones industrials fell under 9,000 this afternoon for the first time since the summer of 2003 as investor confidence that markets would stabilize appeared to collapse. At 3:40 p.m. ET, the blue chips were down 641 points, or 6.9%, to 8,617. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was off 74 points, or 7.5% to 911. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 94 points, or 5.4%, to 1,646. The S&P fell under a closely monitored support level of 960. A support level is important because it is supposed to trigger new buying. At those levels, the crash of 2008...

The Lebanon (Pa.) Daily News carries a letter to the editor from Christopher Tarsa, who makes the case for crossing party lines to support Barack Obama: "As a Republican and strong McCain supporter in 2000, I was disappointed and saddened in 2004 when McCain permanently traded in his maverick credentials and sold out his principles to support George W. Bush." -snip But the paper appends a tagline that rather undercuts Tarsa's claim to speak "as a Republican": "Tarsa is chairman of the Lebanon County Democratic Committee."

WASHINGTON — John McCain’s presidential campaign is denying any connection to Jack Abramoff ally Ralph Reed and accusing Barack Obama and Democrats of taking “desperate” measures to link the two men together. “It’s unfortunate that Barack and his allies have sunk to such depths that they are trying to draw connections that don’t exist and everyone knows don’t exist,” McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds told FOXNews.com. Reed, the former executive director of the Christian Coalition whose political career was thwarted last year by links to convicted lobbyist Abramoff, recently sent an e-mail to his friends urging them to attend a McCain...
