DC police chief ripped for 'mind blowing' response to basic policing question: 'Yikes'

Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police Department Chief Pamela Smith is facing backlash and mockery on social media after she appeared to not understand a question from the media about the department's "chain of command" amid President Donald Trump's recent federalization of the department.

"Can you tell us what the chain of command is now?" a reporter was heard asking Smith during a press conference Tuesday morning.

"What does that mean?" the police chief responded.

...

The exchange of Smith appearing to not understand the reporter's question on the department's "chain of command" sparked mockery and backlash online Tuesday afternoon.

"This is who is in charge of the police in D.C..." popular conservative X account Libs of TikTok posted of the exchange.

"This is why DEI is a disease," National Co-Chair of the RNC Youth Advisory Council CJ Pearson posted to X in response to the exchange.

Smith previously served as the department's first chief equity officer, where she "led the department's efforts on diversity, equity and inclusion," according to her biography.

"WTF! The DC Police Chief doesn’t even know what Chain of Command means," another conservative X account posted in response.

"Smith previously served as the Police Department's "Chief Equity Officer,'" the Trump War Room account posted to X.

"MIND BLOWING: D.C. police chief reveals she DOES NOT KNOW what chain of command is. Folks, this is the Washington, D.C. POLICE Chief," another critic posted.

…” led the department’s efforts on diversity, equity and inclusion, “ …

They didn’t include the lesson about Chain of Command

Every AG and judge funded by Soros is a DEI pick. The goal is to get rid of every one of these lefties.

Every E-1 in the military is supposed to know what it is and who are in it.

I’ve watched the clip about ten times. I don’t think it clicked in her mind....she’s got a 2nd boss (of a higher rank) coming into the picture (instead of the mayor). The mayor quickly stepped in and avoided answering the question...but the capital police are no longer under her authority (something she doesn’t want the public to figure out).

What few grasp...instead of DC-appointed judges...this will go toward fed-judges pretty quick. Instead of paying off someone in the city council to get ‘favors’ by the city-judges....this is now a pretty tough situation.

I’ll go and predict...within 100 days, the bulk of residents prefer fed-LE and fed-judges.

OK.

This officially confirms my theory that having a low IQ is a necessary qualification for holding political office.

And in retrospect that DEI is the failure we always knew it to be.

I’d venture to guess that 99.9% of E-1s know what chain of command means, and know their place in it.

DEI is the legitimate grandson of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Those who carry the chain of command can impose the yoke of the state with the whips of obedience.

I was just a lowly civilian cop and very early in my academy days I knew what it was. And what the potential penalties were for violating it.

She either didn’t hear the question or it was poorly worded.

Nobody fails the “is water wet?” question.

Notice the trend in all of the stars on the uniforms of these police chiefs! It seems that as time goes by they have been adding the number of stars. One chief had SIXTEEN stars visible on his uniform coat and shirt. I was thinking do these people think that they are GENERALS in the Armed Forces? Just when I thought they couldn’t get any more wild in their imaginations of being like Generals/Admirals I saw a Chief with FIVE stars! Who is going to top that? These ego stars are unbelievable.
