Planet Earth continues to run a fever. Data released by the Copernicus Climate Change Service last week showed that March of 2023 was the planet’s second-warmest month in recorded history, registering average global temperatures 0.92 degrees Fahrenheit above normal high temperatures measured between 1991 and 2020. Above-normal monthly temperatures haven’t just become the norm thanks to climate change; they are all but guaranteed. The heat in March marked the 529th consecutive month of hotter-than-normal temperatures in comparison to the 20th century average. March was the 529th straight month hotter than the 20th century average. If you're younger than 44, you've...

On a Thursday Zoom call with progressive activists, Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., said the upcoming hearings by the Jan. 6 select committee probing the riot at the U.S. Capitol staged by supporters of former President Donald Trump will “blow the roof off the House.” “We are going to do everything we can to subpoena all the information we need and to enforce our subpoenas. But even if we don’t get every last person in there, we are going to have hearings that I believe will be compared to the Watergate hearings, because they are going to blow the roof off...

Two months after the 2020 presidential election, less than a day after Congress certified the Electoral College results, and facing increasing pressure to resign, Donald Trump finally admitted on Thursday that he had lost and would not serve a second term.“Now Congress has certified the results. A new administration will be inaugurated on January 20th,” Trump said in a two-minute video posted to his Twitter feed. “My focus now turns to ensuring a smooth, orderly and seamless transition of power.”He did not mention the name of the man who defeated him, President-elect Joe Biden. There has been no indication from...

It’s that same demographic that Trump often refers to as the “silent majority,” whom the president says will help him “win this election big.” Unlike the rally goers in MAGA hats who have memorized the lyrics and sing along to Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA,” these “shy Trump voters,” Cahaly told Yahoo News in an interview Friday, will show that the methods of most polling outfits are outdated and unreliable.

A new study has found that hydroxychloroquine, an antimalarial drug recommended by President Trump as a possible treatment for the coronavirus, does not help patients hospitalized with COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus. The research, which followed 1,376 patients suffering from symptoms of the coronavirus at New York-Presbyterian and Columbia University Irving Medical Center in Manhattan, found that 60 percent of those who were given hydroxychloroquine within 48 hours of being admitted were found to be more severely ill than those who did not take the drug. Funded by the National Institutes of Health and published Thursday in the...

Yahoo News politics editor David Knowles located three Trump-bashing psychologists to demonstrate the same partisan reflexes. The March 5 article was headlined "Trump's mental state — not Biden's — is the real concern, mental health professionals say." Exhibit A is Bandy X. Lee, who appeared on Stelter's show to promote her mental-fitness evaluation, insisted there is no comparison between Biden and Trump: “A few stumbled words are not the same as the extreme danger that result from a list of signs that Donald Trump has shown,” Bandy Lee, a psychiatrist on the faculty at the Yale School of Medicine, told...

President Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani earlier this week upheld what has become a conservative tradition: attacking billionaire philanthropist George Soros. “Don't tell me I'm anti-Semitic if I oppose him,” Giuliani, a Roman Catholic, said in an interview with New York magazine that quickly went viral. “Soros is hardly a Jew. I'm more of a Jew than Soros is. I probably know more about — he doesn't go to church, he doesn't go to religion — synagogue.” Among those who did tell Giuliani he was, at the least, spreading anti-Semitic propaganda, was Jonathan Greenblatt, the national director of the Anti-Defamation League....

Last week, when introducing Ronald Reagan's son, Michael, to a crowd in Anchorage, Alaska, Gov. Sarah Palin delivered a speech that made news for its stinging criticism of President Obama's economic stimulus package. Further analysis of the speech, however, suggests that Palin lifted many of its central ideas, and the way they were worded, from fellow conservative (and presumptive competitor in the 2012 race for president) Newt Gingrich. It appears that much of Palin's text was inspired by an article that Gingrich and Craig Shirley published in 2005 in the Manchester Union Leader, titled "Republicans Need to Relearn Lessons of...

On last night's "Daily Show", Jon Stewart took aim at MSNBC for the network's continued slide toward what he sees as the same partisan cheerleading that one has witnessed over the past eight years at FOX News. Watch: http://www.comedycentral.com/videos/index.jhtml?videoId=210922 While many liberals have hailed the rise of Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow as a long-overdue cable news counterweight to their ideological rivals on FOX, others, like Stewart, bemoan the further blurring of the line between news and commentary. The latter group decries the loss of objectivity in journalism. Left or right, it matters not who commits this crime. What's important...
