WASHINGTON - Former Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan, D-N.Y., is in critical condition at a Washington area hospital, suffering from an infection after his appendix burst, his assistant said Monday. Moynihan, who turned 76 on Sunday, is in the intensive care unit of the Washington Hospital Center, said Vicki Bear Dodson. His appendix ruptured last Monday.
