Now for something completely different. Young Phoenix Legg started his “career” reporting on American politics during the presidential debates of 2016. He’s covered rallies, protests, and conventions, doggedly chasing down interviews and showing more maturity and integrity per pound than any reporter on the network news. We were so impressed that we set aside time to get his story where he shares his thoughts on the current state of political media. Phoenix has a blog worth checking out where he takes on social justice warriors, protesters, and “ignorant folks who say hateful things.” Bravo to Phoenix and his Father Matt....

Heritage Foundation President Jim DeMint spoke at the 2017 Conservative Political Action Conference about the unique opportunities in front of conservatives right now. This is a complete transcript of his remarks. How many are here at CPAC for the first time? Let’s give them all a big CPAC welcome. How many have been to five or more CPAC meetings? How many voted last November? Who did you vote for? How many of you are grassroots activists who constantly work to make America great again? Okay, now tell me why are you here, and why do you work so hard back...

Among his other accomplishments, Donald Trump, without ever intending to, has fractured conservatism – something that was long overdue. The American conservative movement has come quite a distance since the middle of the last century, from a small coterie viewed with contempt by the larger culture to the front ranks of a juggernaut that set back the plans of this country’s left-wing collectivists to a degree that its founders would not have considered possible. (Recall William F. Buckley’s statement that the role of conservatism was to “stand athwart history, yelling “stop.” Incredible as it may seem, “history” did stop.) Today,...

New York Times Continues To Lie On Friday the New York Times published a piece titled Trump’s Blistering Speech at CPAC Follows Bannon’s Blueprint. In the article the New York Times intentionally tried to mislead readers and cause chaos and panic by lying about what President Trump said during his CPAC speech. From the NYT: “ His speech also included a promise to throw undocumented immigrants “the hell out of the country” and a recitation of his law-and-order campaign promises. It's not exactly William Buckley challenging conservatives to marginalize the John Birch Society in the 1960s, but the leadership of the American Conservative Union, sponsors of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), finally acted to clear the meeting of some of the more odious appendages of the so-called alt-right by kicking out one of its recognized leaders, Richard Spencer. Spencer, a white nationalist and anti-Semite, was denounced from the main stage of CPAC by the executive director of the ACU, Dan Schneider. After being cornered by the press, where the alt-right bomb-thrower tossed a few grenades at conservatives, he was...

Senior adviser to the president Stephen K. Bannon discussed the three most important goals the White House is working towards at CPAC 2017: homeland security, economic nationalism, and "deconstruction of the administrative state." "Every business leader we've had in is saying not just taxes, but also the regulation," Bannon said. "I think the consistent, if you look at these Cabinet appointees, they were selected for a reason and that is the deconstruction-- the way the progressive left runs, is if they can't get it passed, they're just gonna put in some sort of regulation in -- in an agency. That's...

CPAC 2017 has shown its support for Israel in numerous ways, but the panel on the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) provided excellent points to defeat the movement.“BDS isn’t about taking Israel out of business,” said Lisa Daftari from Foreign Desk News. “It’s about taking Israel off the map.” Sander Gerber, fellow at the Jewrusalem Center of Public Affairs, and Erielle Davidson of the Hoover Institution joined Daftari on the panel moderated by Ned Ryun from American Majority. All three panelists stressed the importance of linking the Palestinian Authority to the BDS movement. Most people concentrate on Hamas, but those who do...

Mincing no words when it comes to lukewarm replacement plans that would keep most of the disastrous 2009 law in place, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas (A, 97%) called out Obamacare-lite replacement plans at the 2017 Conservative Political Action Conference on Thursday. “There are some Senate Republicans who would like to keep the Obamacare taxes because they want to spend money,” the senator said in a closed-door meeting with reporters at CPAC. “That would be exceptionally foolish.” “I don’t think we should replace one 2,000-page monstrosity with another 2,000-page monstrosity,” Cruz said, in discussion of the current struggle to repeal the...

The one millennial-focused panel on the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) main-stage Thursday was titled "FREE stuff vs FREE-dom: Millennials' Love Affair with Bernie Sanders?" It got worse from there. *** Asked what might bring Bernie-loving millennials around to Republicans or capitalism, the panelists continued to bash Democratic policies such as the Affordable Care Act and the socialist policies that wrecked Venezuela. But they still failed to offer any positive visions of their own. It served as a stark reminder why the Republican Party does so dismally with young folks—in polls, just around 20 percent of millennials tend to identify...

In a blistering CPAC speech following Hillsdale College President Dr. Larry Arnn, the Independent Women's Forum's Sabrina Schaeffer, and Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, American Conservative Union (ACU) Executive Director Dan Schneider attacked the alt-right, claiming that those who identify with that term today have hijacked it for a philosophy fundamentally at odds with conservatism. "Just a few years ago, this hate-filled left-wing fascist group hijacked the very term 'alt-right,'" Schneider declared. "They did it intentionally because they want to deceive the media, they want to deceive you all about what they stand for, so they can try to become normalized,...

Maryland Police are investigating what they believe to be a suicide that took place across the street from the Gaylord National Resort, where the annual Conservative Political Action Conference is being held. Onlookers reported that the man fell to the ground from the top floor of the parking garage at Bobby McKey Dueling Piano Bar, just minutes away from CPAC. Numerous CPAC attendees witnessed the aftermath of the incident on the way to morning sessions.

I don’t know Milo Yiannopoulos, and I don’t really want to know him. I know he worked for Breitbart News and is a provocateur. I don’t know if Andrew Breitbart ever met him, but neither I nor any other of Andrew’s friends I know remember him mentioning Milo. When I heard Yiannopoulos was speaking at CPAC, the annual Washington conference for the conservative movement, I wasn’t surprised. I was surprised he had been selected as the keynote speaker. CPAC has problems in non-election years attracting big names in quantity. This year’s event was scheduled during a congressional recess, so even...

According to Townhall’s and frequent Fox News contributor Guy Benson, controversial Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopoulos has been disinvited from speaking at the upcoming Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in DC, a report that was quickly confirmed by the ACU Chair. Milo will be disinvited from #CPAC, I’ve just been told. — Guy Benson (@guypbenson) February 20, 2017 Yiannopoulos’ initial invitation drew criticism, especially after a questionable clip emerged on social media revealing the Breitbart editor appearing to at least “advocate” for pedophilia. The clip, which was first put online by The Reagan Battalion, quickly made the rounds Sunday; Yiannopoulos says...

Matt Schlapp, the chair of the American Conservative Union, made the announcement this morning.  "We are honored that @POTUS will return to #CPAC2017 on Friday, Feb 24th at 10:00am(ET). Join us for this history-making moment @CPAC." -Matt Schlapp  Trump was a frequent speaker at CPAC for several years. He skipped last year’s conference after #NeverTrumpers planned a walkout protest during his talk. Â
