On Thursday’s broadcast of Newsmax TV’s “Rob Schmitt Tonight,” New York City Councilman Robert Holden (D) stated that President Joe Biden’s “open border” policy is the “how to destroy U.S. cities” in a single term playbook and stated that he thinks the Biden administration has let as many people into the country as they have and sent them all over the country because “they see future voters.” Holden said, “I want a secure border, but, unfortunately, under President Biden, it’s an open border. And, again, it’s, how many are we going to take before it’s over here? This is Joe...

If you don’t smoke and you find yourself walking behind someone who does, it can be unpleasant. Now a New York City Councilman wants to do something about it. “My bill is very simple: no smoking and walking on New York City sidewalks,” said Queens Councilman Peter Koo (Dist. 20). His bill would make it a misdemeanor to walk while smoking, likely punishable by a fine of $50. Smokers, already banned from lighting up in public parks among many other places in the city, weren’t thrilled at the idea. …

Why is this teacher still in the classroom? Who thinks his behavior is okay? Why do parents allow these lousy teachers to treat students and their families with this disrespect? And how do parents address partisan teachers who ignore the subject matter I’m just a Navy mom of a United States Naval Academy graduate who is currently a Navy special ops officer, and has had two long Middle East deployments. I wasn’t going to weigh in on the liberal California councilman and public school teacher who told his students “military are ‘dumbsh*ts” and “lowest of our low.” That is, until...

The Southern California teacher facing a firestorm after he was recorded by a student bashing the military in a profane classroom rant has been placed on administrative leave and removed from all assignments he'd be given as a city councilman. Gregory Salcido, the El Rancho High School teacher and elected Pico Rivera city councilman, will not be able to enter the classroom while school officials conduct an investigation into the recording, the Whittier Daily News reported late Monday. “One thing we are telling people for sure is that the commitment of the board and the superintendent and the staff is...

WALNUT CREEK -- Citing his oath to uphold the Constitution, Councilman Justin Wedel says Walnut Creek voters, not elected leaders, should decide where people can smoke and whether shoppers can choose paper or plastic. Wedel aims to get two initiatives on the June ballot -- one that would repeal a portion of the city's recently adopted secondhand-smoke ordinance and another to prevent a ban on plastic shopping bags in Walnut Creek. "This is not a smoking or plastic bag issue; this is a government-intrusion-into-our-daily-lives issue," said Wedel, elected to his first term in 2012. "I swore an oath to protect...

In the most recent of numerous scandals to rock the District of Columbia’s famously corrupt government, a councilman charged with stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars meant for youth programs has been let off the hook by the city’s attorney general and won’t be federally charged because the area’s U.S. attorney is a college fraternity brother. It marks the latest in a never-ending tale of the crooked officials who run D.C. and seldom face consequences. In this case D.C. Councilman Harry Thomas, who has represented Ward 5 since 2007, “diverted” more than $300,000 in public funds intended for children’s sports and...
