There are certain categories of ads on TV which offend me, and no doubt you, whenever they appear. There are the impotence ads. (Known as “E.D.” to its friends.) Plus the constipation/diarrhea ads. Plus the mobility (scooter) ads. The implication is that older men can’t get it up, can’t get it out, or can’t get it moving. Throw in the Alzheimer ads, and we can’t remember whether we’ve done any of that. I say “we” because all these annoying ads are my fault. Yes, mine, and I apologize. Yes, I am falling apart. It was only a month ago that...

The honor code is carved into stone at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point: "A cadet will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do." The words express the integrity expected of those who lead our men and women into battle, and they have a purpose: Officers who cannot be trusted have no place in positions of responsibility, not when the consequences of such a character flaw can be death, not when the American people put such confidence in those in uniform. University Park, Pa. -- A Penn State analysis of the diets of a nationally representative sample of U.S. preschoolers, ages 2 to 5, shows that more than three-quarters of the children are not getting enough fiber. "There is clinical evidence that children with low fiber intakes are at risk of chronic constipation," said Sibylle Kranz, assistant professor of nutritional sciences who led the study. "However, there are also other reasons to...

Despite the barrage of television commercials that insist otherwise, a diet low in fiber is usually not the cause of constipation, and taking fiber supplements is probably not the cure, according to a new study. In fact, a fiber supplement can actually make symptoms worse in some patients, particularly the most severely afflicted. A review study published in the January issue of The American Journal of Gastroenterology suggests that many other common beliefs about constipation are also little more than durable myths. According to the American College of Gastroenterology, constipation is the reason for at least 2.5 million doctor visits...

I have entered into the den of iniquity to seek redmeption from the evil that has overtaken us. I ache and groan not lightly but deeply into my very bowels at the doom that has overtaken us. One man, one party has stolen the soul of this nation and transformed us into those who kill and plunder. Oh, the grief of one more fraud that has installed this tyrant. Why must we endure such a pernicious monster? Deliver us from this monster. Take this cancer from us.
