Researchers also found that physicians were more likely to trust an AI explanation if it pinpointed a specific area on an X-ray. While artificial intelligence (AI) is a revolutionising tool in medicine, radiologists may over-rely on its advice when it highlights a specific part of an X-ray, according to a new study. A team of US researchers recruited 220 physicians across multiple sites in the country tasked with reviewing chest X-rays alongside AI-generated advice. Participants included radiologists and internal or emergency medicine physicians who were tasked with reading X-rays with the help of an AI assistant. The physicians could accept,...

A new composite material developed by KIMS researchers absorbs over 99% of electromagnetic waves from different frequencies, improving the performance of devices like smartphones and wearables. A team of scientists from the Korea Institute of Materials Science (KIMS) has developed the world’s first ultra-thin film composite material capable of absorbing over 99% of electromagnetic waves from various frequency bands, including 5G/6G, WiFi, and autonomous driving radar, using a single material. This novel electromagnetic wave absorption and shielding material is less than 0.5mm thick and is characterized by its low reflectance of less than 1% and high absorbance of over 99%...

This is a continuing problem with them and a bunch of years (12-15 or longer) ago they decided to change tab location placement and each time some kind IT type has user chrome steps to put them back where they belong, below the address bar. So I can use some help to put them back and, no, I'm not going to change to Brave or some other browser -- I have add-ons that I use every day here on FR so just...

So I get a call from my son at about 7:30 am. He’s freaking out wondering of something happened here since (according to him) I made 2 calls at approximately 1:28 am. He assumed something must have been wrong for me to be calling so late, but we chalked it up to an infamous ‘butt dial’. But wait: I was pretty sure I was in bed before then, and made that pretty clear. I then after checking my phone history I said, “can you check the number that actually called you, since I have no record of it on my...
