LAKEPORT, California (AP) -- An American activist who was killed by a car bomb in Iraq earlier this month was remembered Saturday for her dedication to humanitarian causes and her personal mission of counting civilian casualties of war. Many of the more than 600 mourners, including friends, family, colleagues and journalists who traveled from around the world for her funeral, shared memories of Marla Ruzicka's boundless energy that helped her accomplish much in her 28 years. Kevin Danaher, co-founder of San Francisco-based Global Exchange, a nonprofit international human rights organization, said Ruzicka's magic was understanding and showing unconditional love. "That's...

When The New York Times, “Nightline,” and CNN nominate a young blonde for sainthood ahead of the Pope, it’s time for a reality check. Especially when that blonde, Marla Ruzicka’s sole purpose is to legitimize our enemies, cause problems for U.S. troops already in harms way, and morally equivocate dead terrorists with victims of 9/11. Jane Fonda lite—but unfortunately without having been spat upon by right-thinking veterans. The recent death of Ruzicka, an American “activist” in Iraq, elicited an orgy of gush—everywhere from Time Magazine to The Guardian of London to Al-Jazeera. A 28-year-old San Franciscan, Ruzicka was in Iraq...

For the third time in just over 3 weeks, DC Chapter FReepers conducted a FReep of Code Pink's anti-war protest at the gate of Walter Reed Army Medical Center, where many of the most severely wounded troops from the war in Iraq and Afghanistan are taken for continued treatment and rehabilitation. The FReep of the leftists' obscene blood dance was on the night of Friday, April 22. The honor roll of those in attendance: kristinn, Trueblackman, BufordP, and BillF. The FReep went forward despite drizzle at the beginning and the threat of heavy rain, which never materialized. My photos are...

She had been in Iraq conducting door-to-door surveys trying to determine the number of civilian casualties in the country. Ruzicka, 28, of Lakeport, founded CIVIC in 2003 and was instrumental in securing millions of dollars in aid money from...

On Friday night, April 15, DC Chapter FReepers conducted a FReep of Code Pink's anti-war protest at the gate of Walter Reed Army Medical Center, where many of the most severely wounded troops from the war in Iraq and Afghanistan are taken for continued treatment and rehabilitation. The honor roll of those in attendance: tgslTakoma, kristinn, Doctor Raoul, hellinahandcart, sauropod, Jimmy Valentine's brother, BufordP, and BillF. Except for a few minutes when the Code Pinkos who arrived late overlapped with those who left early, we outnumbered them during the FReep. My photos are below. The announcement of the FReep is here,...

On Apr 14th, we prevented the lefties from entering the recruiter office and got lots of media attention. Here is a link to a story in the local news. I also infiltrated their march and rally. http://badgerherald.com/news/2005/04/15/demonstrators_walk_.php http://nbc15.madison.com/home/headlines/1474707.html Here is a picture of one of our signs within the pro-terrorist rally... <p>A picture's worth a thousand words. My question: Why didn't the security guards escort the PROTESTERS out of the building??? Disgusting.</p>

U. N. Ambassador-nominee John Bolton testified before the Senate Foreign Relations committee today. We'll have more to say about the substance of his testimony later, but for now, I wanted to note that the proceedings were interrupted by protesters from Code Pink. In the Reuters photo below, one of the Code Pinkers holds up a banner: I suspect that what she really means is "No USA, Yes UN." But, as annoyed as I am by these protesters, the Democrats should be apoplectic. This is exactly the kind of publicity they don't need, especially in a context where they are taking...

I'm conducting research on the protests held in Fayetteville, North Carolina on March 19, 2005. I'm very interested in talking with someone who was part of the contingent from Free Republic. (I'm only interested in talking with people who were actually physically there.) If you are willing to talk with me, please drop me an e-mail and we can set up a time to talk via telephone. I can be reached at michael.t.heaney@yale.edu. Sincerely, Michael T. Heaney

WASHINGTON — Steeling against rain and cold night air, clutching candles and placards, a group of activists are standing nightly vigils at the entrance to Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, protesting what they believe is the Pentagon’s attempt to hide the human toll of the war in Iraq. With wounded troops arriving from Germany, where most receive treatment after being stabilized in the field, flights to the United States are arranged so that soldiers are admitted into Walter Reed for follow on care at night. “When we first heard about this, we were appalled,” said vigil organizer Gael...

I just received a phone call from my mother, tgslTakoma. She's at the DC Chapter counterprotest of Code Pink at Walter Reed. tgsl says: We arrived carrying American flags and signs supporting the troops at 8 PM on the northeast corner of Walter Reed. The Code Pinkos arrived around 9 on their corner. Gail arrived and saw the FReepers on their corner, and we can only assume that she made a few phone calls. After we unfurled our MOAB (Mother Of All Banners), the Pinkos got upset and sent over 2 goons to stand in front of us, Later another...
