Press Release For Immediate Release
Washington, DC – The Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll has issued a formal apology to Operation Rescue for mischaracterizing the pro-life organization as a terror group during a counterterrorism and security training presentation that was used to teach 9,100 Army soldiers at Fort Bragg.
“This characterization was not only inaccurate but also deeply inappropriate,” Driscol stated in a July 16, 2025, letter to the American Center for Law and Justice, which represents Operation Rescue and its President, Troy Newman.
“I am glad to accept the Army’s apology, but the harm this has caused Operation Rescue has been incalculable,” said Newman. “Being labeled a terrorist in these troubled times has carried with it a heavy burden on my staff and me.”
Secretary Driscoll admitted that the mischaracterization was a “grievous error” that caused harm to Operation Rescue and other pro-life groups that were mentioned in the training presentation.
“While I cannot undo the harm that this training caused, I want to offer my sincerest apology to Operation Rescue, National Right to Life, and all pro-life groups negatively impacted by the false characterization of all pro-life organizations made by this training. Please be assured that I am firmly committed to rigorous oversight of all Army training materials to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future,” Driscoll wrote.
Jordan Sekulow, executive director of ACLJ, responded to Secretary Driscoll’s letter.
“Thank you for standing up against the Leftist ideology that had been infecting our military branches and bogging down our warfighters, often cloaked in the bureaucratic morass. We know you have a lot of work to do, and that you took time to address this — not just in response to an oversight function of Congress, but directly to our client who was among those harmed — confirms your commitment to the values for which you fight,” said Sekulow.
Newman expressed gratitude for the apology and the Secretary’s promise to ensure the error is not repeated. However, he also noted that the damage to Operation Rescue’s reputation cannot so easily be undone.
“For years, Army trainers falsely told thousands of soldiers that Operation Rescue posed a terror threat to our country. The damage this has caused our nonviolent organization is something that cannot be undone with a simple apology, no matter how sincere,” said Newman. “Operation Rescue works tirelessly through all peaceful, legal means available to end the violent act of abortion, expose abortion abuses, and call for accountability to those who harm pregnant women and their babies. This work has saved countless lives and helped promote new laws that provide greater protection for the women and children for whom we advocate. Hopefully, this apology will help to finally clear our name.”

Thanks for the apology
How about you retrain all those people with a US Constitution course from Hillsdale College
The online course is free I think.
I think Lloyd Austin would never sincerely issue such an apology, nor any other Biden flunky. I think this is a sincere apology and reflects the view of the President and his DOD appointees. I suspect there are still Deep State adherents in the Army brass as well in the other branches, however.
What a difference a pro-America president makes!
The Sec should be sacked. Shame on our government for having trash like him. He still hates Americans who support Operation Rescue. He has just become a better liar.
My apology. I didn’t realize he was not the Sec when it was going done.
As well as court martial everyone that approved this O5 and above.
You do understand the current SecDef is not the one who started this? It had been done for years.
You should appalled him for stopping it. Reread the article

Yeah, apology now until the next liberal pres comes along (and may that NOT be for another 2 decades or more!)
That happened during the Dark Years when Biden was “President”.
Sorry I posted that before I read your apology
Good on you
I hope it’s sincere! Even the ag labeled conservatives as “domestic terrorists”- even though conservatives never were the ones murdering others- it was blm and antimatter who were doing g that and still trying to do it, yet the liberal ogv refused to call them domestic terrorists. The worst that conservatives did was raise their voices or pray outside clinics
It should have called out exactly who said it, and when they said it, to publicly show that the harm was done by Democrats.
What happened to hanging?
The Biden hard left dogma is deeply embedded in the military and other parts of the government. It will take a while for this cancer to be thrown out.
The U.S. Army didn’t do this (Label right to lifers as terrorists) ...never...ever..
Someone in the Army or connected with the U.S. Army did. That person needs to be called by name together with the assurance that his or her connection with the U.S. Army was a mistake, that he or she has been fired, and that he or she will never be welcome at any U.S. Army venue.
If that person was wearing a U.S. Army uniform, he or she should have been drummed out of the U.S. Army with, at best, a General Discharge.
If you don’t name names, it never happened.
If that person was Lloyd Austin, say so and say he wasn’t much of a Secretary of Defense in any other respect.
AGREE!!!
Pro life = terrorist? Typical leftist logic.
Now let’s be honest about the Democratic Party having a terrorist wing.
Was Driscol apologizing for himself or someone else?
