Three senior House Democrats asked U.S. teachers Monday to destroy a book written by climate scientists challenging the environmentalist view of global warming. The Democrats were responding to a campaign by the conservative Heartland Institute copies of the 2015 book, “Why Climate Scientists Disagree About Global Warming” to about 200,000 science teachers. Democratic Reps. Bobby Scott of the Committee on Education, Raúl M. Grijalva of the Committee on Natural Resources, and Eddie Bernice Johnson of the Committee on Science, Space and Technology all issued a statement telling teachers to trash the book. “Public school classrooms are no place for anti-science...

Donald Trump’s victory in the presidential election shocked climate scientists and policymakers after a campaign in which Trump had suggested—falsely—that climate change was a hoax and vowed to largely undo federal and international measures aimed at addressing global warming. Nonetheless, climate advocates took solace in the days following the election, noting that the market forces largely responsible for the shift away from coal and the incontrovertible science supporting climate regulations would remain true regardless of who was President. But in the six weeks since the election, Trump’s transition team has suggested that the incoming administration will not simply challenge the...

I'd just like to add something to Max Border's excellent Opinion Zone post on the climate gravy train below.  There is actually strong empirical evidence that climate scientists are very highly paid, and it comes from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The BLS conducts a National Compensation Survey every year to assess how much workers are paid.  Most valuable is the fact that it puts everything down to an hourly wage, so you can judge how well people are paid in professions that work long hours (like firefighters - 2556 hours a year) compared to profession that work fewer hours...

Gosh. A “Climate rapid response team” from Minnesota? What will they be armed with? Wits and a hockey stick? So far that hasn’t worked out too well.  From the Chicago Tribune:Climate scientists plan campaign against global-warming skepticsThe American Geophysical Union plans to announce Monday that 700 researchers have agreed to speak out on the issue.
