If there was ever a year that called for bold global action on climate change, 2023 was it. In what will likely go down as the warmest year on record — one rife with catastrophic floods, scorching heat waves, devastating wildfires and enduring drought — leaders from nearly 200 countries gathered to chart a path forward in the fight against climate change. After more than two weeks of tense negotiations representatives from 198 countries agreed Wednesday to “transition away” from fossil fuels. It was a historic deal but one that once again fell short for many climate activists, who saw...

President Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris climate accord has put the world on notice that “America First” is not just a campaign slogan — it’s his administration’s guiding doctrine. Trump on Thursday delivered on a key campaign promise by announcing he will pull the U.S. out of a 190-country agreement that former President Obama entered into less than nine months ago. Obama had hailed the Paris Agreement as a “turning point for our planet” and the culmination of “an intense diplomatic effort” that drew scores of countries, cultures and governments into a pact aimed at slowing the rise...

Almost every major world newspaper and website has gone into meltdown since President Trump announced that the US would not be moving forward with the Paris Climate Accord. The headlines range from the incredulous to the mocking, and each story trots out the same statistics and motivations that we have been hearing about since the Globalist movement changed Global Warming to Climate Change (and of course 20 years prior it was Global Cooling that was going to finish us off as a species). Another thing they all had in common was a serious distaste for those that they call Climate...

UNITED NATIONS (AP) -- The Paris Agreement to combat climate change became international law on Friday - a landmark deal about tackling global warming amid growing fears that the world is becoming hotter even faster than scientists expected. So far, 96 countries, accounting for just over two-thirds of the world's greenhouse gas emissions, have formally joined the accord, which seeks to limit global warming to 2 degrees Celsius (3.6 degrees Fahrenheit). More countries are expected to come aboard in the coming weeks and months.

China and the United States are set to jointly announce their ratification of a landmark climate change pact before the G20 summit early next month, the South China Morning Post has learned. Senior climate officials from both countries worked late into the night in Beijing on Tuesday to finalise details, and a bilateral announcement is likely to be made on September 2, according to sources familiar with the issue.... ...“There are still some uncertainties from the US side due to the complicated US system in ratifying such a treaty, but the announcement is still quite likely to be ready by...

Obama administration’s zealous pursuit of a nice-sounding climate change agreement has led the United States into a sucker’s deal Nearly 200 countries reached consensus in Paris on what President Obama has called an “historic agreement” to combat man-made climate change. Their host, French President Francois Hollande, extolled the work of the negotiators. He said “you will be able to say that on the twelfth of December you were in Paris for the agreement on the climate. And you will be able to be proud to stand before your children and your grandchildren.” On a superficial level, the agreement, which is...
  • Media pretty excited about ‘landmark’ climate deal that would kill fossil fuels industry

The only good news is that it will never be ratified One of the ways you can tell the media’s bias is from the descriptive words they use about something that happens. When a development is “landmark” or “historic,” that means they’re in love with it. When it’s “controversial” or “divisive” . . . yeah, you get the idea. So it’s a measure of just how smitten with state power they’ve become that an international agreement designed to decimate the fossil fuels industry while putting crushing controls and regulations on all manufacturing - not to mention massive new taxes and...
  • China, U.S. Make Climate Deal

You probably missed some pretty big news over the weekend: China and the United States agreed to phase out the use of hydrofluorocarbons, or HFCs. If you’re old enough to remember the ozone scare, that was mostly caused by chlorofluorocarbons, or CFCs. A 1987 agreement banned those, giving rise to HFCs as a replacement, which don’t cause an ozone hole but do heat up the atmosphere a lot. Why is this a big deal? On its own terms, it will do a lot to restrain global warming, eliminating perhaps half a degree Celsius of expected warming over a century. But...
