Hundreds of flights have been grounded across the US after a sudden equipment outage crippled operations at three major East Coast airports The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued urgent ground stops for Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), Philadelphia International Airport and Teterboro Airport shortly before 11.30am ET on Monday. Planes were prevented from leaving all three airports, while inbound flights were ordered to remain at their departure points.
