<p>Hot dogs, live music and introspective angst were the fare for more than 1,000 union members at the Louisville Zoo yesterday as they pondered a Labor Day holiday whose meaning diminishes each year.</p> <p>"The general public's thoughts have declined as far as what they think labor has done for them," said Joe Wise, a 30-year union member and business manager for the Greater Louisville Building and Construction Trades Council. "This nation was made great on the backs of its workers. But in our society, we tend to have short memories."</p>
