Bridges and roads were closed early Monday to prevent access to downtown Chicago after a night of unrest and looting in the city following an officer-involved shooting. All bridges along the Chicago River were raised throughout The Loop, according to CBS Chicago. Chicago's Officer of Emergency Management said on Twitter that streets are closed in the city's Magnificent Mile shopping district as well as Gold Coast and South Loop neighborhoods. Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot slammed looters and rioters who descended upon the downtown area early Monday morning, calling the overnight events “an assault on our city” and telling criminals, “We are coming for you.” Police said more than 100 people were arrested and at least 13 officers were hurt over the course of the events. “We are waking up in shock this morning,” Lightfoot said. “These individuals engaged in what can only be described as brazen and extensive criminal looting and destruction. Black Lives Matter engaged in massive widespread looting in Chicago on Sunday evening, once again. A caravan of vehicles was carrying dozens of looters from store to store, according to reports. Facebook pulled down livestreams of the looting after shots were heard being fired near a Louis Vuitton store that was being raided.

The unrest started around 11 p.m. Sunday and cause of the unrest is still unknown at this time, but it does appear to be a coordinated effort.
