LOS ANGELES – Mexican-American actor Richard Anthony "Cheech" Marin is slamming the Arizona immigration law as little more than an attempt to hold on to “white culture.” “It’s ridiculous; it’s the last gasp of white culture,” he told Pop Tarts at the Los Angeles launch last week of Disney Pixar's online "World of Cars." “Reactionaries and Congress (are to blame) only because they think that's the way of getting votes. We'll stir up the rabble! If you take the Mexicans out of Arizona, Arizona is going to collapse the next day.” But it’s not only the immigration law with which...

With a final score that totaled $0, Cooper missed questions about world leaders, geography, and literature (among other topics). By the time "Final Jeopardy" came around, he was so stumped by a question about the author of "The Wizard of Oz" that his screen displayed simply the word "Who."

The Drug Policy Alliance is releasing a powerful flash movie that highlights the plight of 18-year-old Mitchell Lawrence, the teen now spending two years in jail for selling one joint’s worth of marijuana to an undercover cop in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. The two-minute movie introduces people to Mitchell Lawrence and the details of his case. The flash asks and then explains how an 18-year-old (he was 17 when arrested) who has never been in trouble before could be sentenced to two years in jail for selling such a minuscule amount of marijuana. The movie states: "It takes two things: A...

I've been feeling a little pain in my left hand when I make a fist or move it certain ways the last week or so. Dismissed it as part of getting old. Just now, I've discovered the source of my annoying pain. It's about 3 inches above the middle point between my index and middle finger toward my wrist and there's a semi hard lump about the size of a dime in diameter and about 3/8" in height. When I press it, it sends a little pain down to my middle and ring finger. Oh sure, I will surely be...

Cheech & Chong blowin' smoke in each other's face Cheech and Chong - can't they get along? Apparently not. Tommy Chong recently labeled his former comedy partner, Richard (Cheech) Marin, a "sellout" and a "professional Mexican."

When Tank, a 3-year-old male pit bull mix, arrived with his owner at a veterinary office in Humboldt County, his jaws packed with white powder, it was clear that something was seriously wrong. Earlier, Tank had mysteriously consumed an entire box of baking soda — odd behavior, even for an animal with famously indiscriminate eating habits. But more disturbing was Tank's demeanor. He sat trembling, his front legs stuck out at an awkward angle, his dilated eyes fixed on a distant point. A check of the heart revealed a coma-like 32 beats per minute, far below normal. Joseph Humble, the...

This is not a vanity post, it is the plain truth. As 'flagthefly' I posted a link to a BBC article about an investigation by the most respected medical magazine in the world, which had some unpleasant things to say about the real number of dead in Iraq. My thread got pulled after 2 replies. This has changed my opinion on this site by 180 degrees for now. Why is it not possible to post a link to news about an independent scientific investigation? If this counts as 'freedom', then I'd like to be jailed forever, that would be a...

ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - Cheech and Chong may have joked about marijuana in their movies, but the comedians say they didn't touch the stuff when the cameras were rolling. "We tried one time and we wasted so much film," said Tommy Chong, recalling a scene in "Up in Smoke." "We were in the car waiting for the cue, you know. And the camera's rolling and we're sitting there, you know, and neither one of us heard the cue." Chong and former partner Cheech Marin appeared together for the first time in 20 years at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival. Chong...

Our mayor, our premier, the opposition, restaurant and casino owners, the non-smokers and the smokers-rights types, they're all locked in a battle to the death over who gets to smoke -- cigarettes that is -- and who doesn't. Glen Murray to date won't let himself be pinned down on a citywide ban, ditto Doer on a provincewide ban. Restaurants that have bars attached continue to allow smoking while bar owners have nightmares at the thought that someday soon their establishments might have to go cold turkey. Meanwhile, booze is legal, cigarette smoking is legal and marijuana is not. There's something...
