It seems the Ukrainian armed forces have lost their first Challenger 2 tank. A video that circulated online on Monday depicts what appears to be one of the 82nd Air Assault Brigade’s ex-British Challengers 2 in flames on a roadside outside Robotyne, in southern Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia Oblast. The apparent first loss of a 69-ton, four-person Challenger 2, out of 14 that the United Kingdom pledged to the Ukrainian war effort back in January, comes just days after the Ukrainian defense ministry highlighted the tank in a video interview with an 82nd Brigade trooper.

LONDON --- An initial assessment phase portion for the British Army Challenger main battle tank upgrade program has elicited response from multiple bidders. The British Army's fleet of 227 Challenger tanks are to be upgraded under a program expected to reach £624 million ($816 million). Under the latest U.K. Strategic Defense and Security Review (SDSR) published in November 2015, the Conservative government opted to extend the service life of the British Army's Challenger II main battle tank - which began entering service in 1998 - out by 10 years to 2035. With the deadline for submitting industry proposals to the...

Challengers wipe out column of Iraqi T55s after chance encounter in Basra desert THE morning sun was up, the fog of war had briefly lifted. In the distance, a moving cloud of dust betrayed a column of armour on the move. Twenty miles southeast of Basra, 14 Challenger 2 tanks of C Squadron, Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, were on their way to reinforce 3 Commando Brigade, Royal Marines on al-Faw peninsula. They were not expecting tanks from the north; they had another mission in mind. But they had reached the position they were in only because of some speedy and...

British tanks wipe out Iraqi Soviet-made tanks around Basra Iraqi armored units have proven to be no match to British main battle tanks. Officials said Britain's Challenger-2 tanks have easily picked off Iraqi T-55 tanks around the southern city of Basra. So far, they said, scores of Soviet-origin T-55 tanks have been destroyed in battles around Basra over the last two days. On Thursday, officials reported the destruction of 14 Iraqi tanks, believed to have been T-55s. Iraq first obtained the T-55 in the mid-1960s and some of them were upgraded in the 1980s. Officials said Iraq appears to...

What do you all think is the best tank in the world, now and before of cause. I´m from Germany so for me it´s clear. The Leopard 2A5 ist the best tank the world has ever known. We also produced some great tanks like the Tiger or Panther, for Expert´s the Henschel Sturmtiger and the Köngistiger are the ancestors of all modern tanks and the Us and Russia have stolen our ideas.

The UK has begun preparing key items of equipment for possible operations in Iraq should UN weapons inspectors fail to verify Iraq's disposal of its weapons of mass destruction capability. The move comes as service chiefs expressed concerns about the impact of a prolonged strike by the UK's fire service on the readiness of the armed forces, which have committed more than 19,000 personnel to provide coverage during the strike. However, units from the 1st (UK) Armoured Division based in Germany that previously were on standby to provide fire coverage were ordered to resume training for military operations in late...
