What do you all think is the best tank in the world, now and before of cause.
I´m from Germany so for me it´s clear. The Leopard 2A5 ist the best tank the world has ever known. We also produced some great tanks like the Tiger or Panther, for Expert´s the Henschel Sturmtiger and the Köngistiger are the ancestors of all modern tanks and the Us and Russia have stolen our ideas.

There are many factors as to which is the best tank in the world, but the only one that counts is how they have done in actual combat. The Abrams comes in first, last and on top as none of the others have been in any tank to tank combat other than those of Iraq that are still mostly wrecks.
You can crab until the cows come home, but until one of the also-rans fights and wins, it is the Abrams.
And as the military policies of the also-rans is not to fight (Brits excepted), I suspect the Abrams will continue to be the King of the Battlefield.

Leopard?
Abrams?
May they never be compared, in the way it most counts!

I've always preferred Synder for both cone-bottom tanks and ellipticals.

I agree on Synder cone-bottom tanks, pard, but would you really want to be in one when the fodder hits the fan?

The French tank has the most comfortable suspension and the most comfortable toilets...

US tanks have benefited over the years from quite a bit of British research, but thats what allies are for. Specifically Chobham armour comes to mind.

The Leopard 2A5 ist the best tank the world has ever known. It didn't keep the Allies from defeating the filty Nazi bastards and sending them to hell.

Shrug.
To an Apache or a Warthog, they all look like turtles crossing a road.

A tank is only as good as the soldiers who operate it. The Leopards are operated by German socialist "I've already put in my 35.5 hours this week" weenies, and the French Le Clercs are operated by French surrender monkeys or Arab "It's not so easy to steer as a camel, I'd better surrender to Ashleigh Banfield right away" camel herders. So the Abrams with its highly-trained US troops is, and will remain, the best.

The French tank has the most comfortable suspension and the most comfortable toilets... What? Nothing about the speed in Reverse?

French tanks suffer from having cowards at the controls. French tanks become German tanks very quickly and Frenchmen become Vichy just as fast.

All due respect but what Germany built in WWII in order to seize Europe, Russia and North Africa in it's goal of World Fascism and Racism isnt something that is remotely germain to this discussion of current Battle Tank. Stop living in the past.
The Leopard is a fine machine that has proven zero in combat. The British Chieftain and Abrams both rank well above the Leopard.

Not to mention the "gun" on the front of the French battletanks which shoots out a white surrender flag (the French decided that was preferable to a flag that said "bang").

That's Maverick's opinion, not mine! I vote for the Abrams and its well trained crews supported by US Infantry and Air Support.

And an auto-loader that makes it completely vulnerable [more so than any other western tank] if it engages more than one tank simultaniously.
To: sonofatpatcher2
A tank's ability to function is dependent upon the type of terrain, the type of tactics being employed, and they tupe of opposition. There is no single best tank.

I spent 2 years with M-1, no doubt the best tank in the world and the best trained crews in the world.
NOTHING can stand against a plattoon of M-1's in the field, no tank in the world has a chance against those machines of war.
