WEBSTER CITY, Iowa —Opening statements started Tuesday in the trial for a man accused of killing his former girlfriend's 5-year-old daughter. Prosecutors say 35-year-old Casey Frederiksen was watching Evelyn Miller for her mother in July 2005 when he sexually abused the girl and stabbed her to death. He is charged with first-degree murder and sexual assault. Prosecutors say all the evidence points to Frederiksen as the person who killed Miller. CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa—The former fiance of a woman whose daughter was found slain last year in northern Iowa has been sentenced to 14 years in prison on federal child pornography charges. Twenty-six-year-old Casey Frederiksen, of Charles City, was indicted on 14 counts of child pornography. He pleaded guilty to three counts in February. US District Judge Linda Reade could have sentenced Frederiksen to anywhere from eleven years to 14 years in prison.
