A female gang member spent less than four years incarcerated for a double murder due to Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón’s policies. She has now been charged with another killing just months after her release. In 2019, East Coast Crips member Shanice Dyer shot dead expectant father Alfredo Carrera and his rocket scientist friend Jose Flores, who had just got a job at NASA. Dyer, 22, was charged alongside two others last week with the murder of Joshua Streeter, 21, in Pomona, California. He was shot in the back at a swap meet and die.

Even professional drivers are wary of Porsche Carrera GT (Newser) – Paul Walker died in a Porsche Carrera GT, a car that a former manager at the car company has called "crazy" and "the most dangerous car on the road," Jalopnik reports. And that's not the only eerie quote the site rounded up: A well-known Porsche test driver said the car was the first to actually scare him, and a Top Gear presenter noted, "You need to be awake to drive this car fast." It's been involved in a number of other headline-making incidents, including a fatal crash at...

(CHICAGO--29 May '05) Lost amid all the reams of paper, stacks of videos and bites in e-space about President Fox's view of African-American workers is a more troublesome comment coming from an overlooked source. CNN.com reports that "Even Cardinal Norberto Rivera Carrera, the archbishop of Mexico City, criticized U. S. immigration policy as ridiculous and defended Fox's comments, saying: "The declaration had nothing to do with racism. It is a reality in the United States that anyone can prove." That's not the whole of Cardinal Carrera's comments about immigration. He also has criticized the United States for "xenophobic attitudes" toward...

Fox haunted by comment about blacks MARK STEVENSON Associated Press MEXICO CITY - After a scolding from north of the border, President Vicente Fox said he regretted any hurt feelings over a comment he made about blacks in the United States. But many Mexicans insist Americans overreacted. In a speech Friday, Fox praised the dedication of Mexicans working in the United States, saying they're willing to take jobs that "even blacks" won't do. State Department spokesman Richard Boucher called the remark "very insensitive and inappropriate" and said the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City had raised the issue with the Mexican...

NPR.org, April 2, 2005 · "Tip O'Neill was correct," says Father Tom Reese, editor in chief of America, the Catholic weekly magazine. "All politics is local... even in the Catholic Church." Reese suggests that instead of focusing on the possible papal candidates as a bookie would look at horses in the starting gate, try to think about the election from the point of view of the electors, the cardinals who cast the votes. "Each cardinal is thinking, how will this candidate go over in my diocese?" Reese says. "If you're from the Third World, you're concerned with people who are...
