<p>Britons rescue the two American crews after days of hobbling along.</p> <p>CAMP VIPER, Iraq -- Learning Sunday that they had been considered missing in action was only the latest nightmare for eight Marines whose M1A1 Abrams tanks broke down in the Iraqi desert and lost contact with U.S. forces.</p>

<p>CAMP VIPER, IRAQ -- Lance Cpl. Roland Castellanos was manning a machine gun atop a 7-ton truck when an Iraqi ambush hit his Marine convoy Friday night.</p> <p>He couldn't see the attackers, only tracer rounds. Swiveling his weapon, he fired 100 rounds into the darkness. In the cab below, the driver also was firing and lost control. The truck rolled, throwing out Castellanos.</p>

<p>CAMP VIPER, IRAQ -- The small Iraqi boy was brought by helicopter to a military tent hospital Wednesday afternoon with his right foot missing and the leg mangled up to his knee. The other leg was too damaged to save.</p>

<p>CAMP VIPER, Iraq -- Marine Sgt. Steven Zakar said he saw boys about 7 years old armed with AK-47 rifles standing in front of Iraqi troops on the banks of the Euphrates River.</p> <p>Marine Cpl. Stephen Hammond said he saw a hospital replete with fake patients and doctors used as a headquarters for Iraqi forces.</p>
