I’d recommend the book “Dog Heaven” for anyone that loses their pet. I’d gotten from a local library when my grandson’s dog had to be put down. I see it’s also available on the internet... one of the sites by just doing a search for the title is http://www.healingbaskets.com/prod_17100.htm

Your family is in my prayers. A word of encouragement - my grandson was born 2 months early and weighed 2# l5 oz. - your pictures bring back memories of our visits to see him - he came home from the hospital about a month later at 5# (the day after Mothers Day) - that was almost 10 years ago - he now plays ice hockey, is an A student, and people can't believe he was a preemie!!!!!

In an editorial of a nearby small town weekly newspaper, the writer compared the date Sept. 11 to the 911 emergency number, and his last sentence said 10-31 is police code for "crime in progress". Do we have any law enforcement officer freepers that can confirm that code? I've been very uneasy since I read that.

Wouldn't it be great if a pre-requisite to college, news reporting etc was a week minimum at a military "boot camp" and another at a veterans hospital. It might enlighten a few of them at least.

Exactly! I think this is being done as a distraction from their next step and the dragnet that's out. Let's hope that "America's Most Wanted" tonight makes some progress.

My brother's barely hanging on to his farm. If those college people had to work one week on a farm (and another in the armed forces)they wouldn't be shooting off their mouths the way they do. In fact I think one day would do them in!

I have not given to the "United Way" since the Boy Scouts were targeted by them. We were "encouraged" where I worked to help them reach their "goal" - I checked which groups were supposed to get money from them and gave directly to the Boy Scouts and other groups I knew could use the money. I also quit that place of employment - eventually saw other things being done that I just couldn't stomach!!

Check out another thread on this subject "Why are Movie Stars...." - My husband flipped over to it a couple times during FOX News breaks - from the little we've seen, it's getting progressively worse. They must be aiming this toward the younger people who never watch the news and do all the "peace" rallies.

I was home. My daughter called me to see if I had TV on as I've been playing my "oldies" on the stereo. She had the day off work because it was her birthday. The 18th was her wedding anniversary, and her husband's birthday is tomorrow, 9/22. Every year they should be celebrating will be a reminder of the devastation done to our country and our world, but at least I still have them. My heart just aches for all who lost their loved ones and pray especially for our president and all those in the military and their families. God have mercy on us.
