Is it something to do with a brain disorder? Item: his numerous and inexplicable gaffes. Item: his odd suggestion that he may be only able to last one term. Item: his bizarre and reckless obsession with insuring a lasting legacy (memorial?) by forcing through unpopular policies. Item: his reliance on teleprompters (to cover up a fading memory?). This failure to release info on a physical exam is a major, major issue! Goes beyond privacy, to fitness to continue performance of the office!

Drive down Chapman Blvd in Orange, CA, around noon, and you'll see crowds of obvious illegals lounging around, some waiting for a pickup truck to collect them, others just lounging around. What you don't see are fields of crops needing picking, or orchards needing pruning. The illegals are doing the work that Americans will and do handle, if paid like they once were. Hats off to the illegals who work in agriculture, but they are only a small percentage--and their multiplying kids, wives, girlfriends, grannies are definitely not out there in the fields and orchards.

Doesn't seem to matter which party is in power, the NKs seem to face them all down. Nixon was in power in Apr 69 when a NK jet ambushed an EC-121 aircraft from Atsugi, and all 31 aboard were murdered. Our response? Tut-tut, you meanies. The NKs ambushed and killed our soldiers all along the DMZ in the 1960s, and we harumphed. Our firmest response was to the DMZ ax murders in 1976 (Ford the boss).
Glad to see so many others of the same mind: sink the Pueblo, give her an honorable end. Missed a chance more than once, in her transit from Wonsan to Nampo and back.

What a pathetic scene yesterday, as 10-plus armed, beefy guards surrounded Nichols in court! Atlanta still can't get its act together. A competent law enforcement organization could guarantee security with appropriate procedures and no more than two or three capable guards. What were all those guards there for, other than to stage a silly tableau to offset Friday's tragic debacle?

Hardball said she was working for a "socialist" newspaper? Well, that's a little more precise than the LA Times Sunday, which reported she worked for a "left-wing" newspaper. It's a COMMUNIST newspaper!!

This is not a Red State or Blue State, a Left or Right issue. If one praises the values of Heartland America, Middle America, small-town, Mom-and-Pop store America, the friendly corner grocer, then that person must drive through said Heartland America and confront the reality. Devastated small town shopping areas, wiped out by the (Great) Wall Mart on the (cheap rent) outskirts of town. The ballyhoo about WalMart prospering because of great customer service is total bogus. The only help I ever get is from the guy who mixes up the house paint for me. Just aisles and aisles of Chinese-made junk, with nary a helpful associate in sight. The great old department store founders left behind public parks, libraries, baseball fields, concert halls, charities. What do you find in Arkansas but a bunch of rich heirs to the sainted Sam. The same people who promote boycotts of French wines and cheese have no qualms about shopping at WalMart for all those super American-designed but Chinese-manufactured goodies. WalMart is little different from a communist cooperative, swallowing up all competition, constantly hungry for more market share.

Sean Hannity, please don't read this thread! It'll buttress your claim that Free Republic eats its own and is full of nutsos and nastiness. The pack charges out howling at the suer, attacks and smears those who take a second look at the actual situation. Reminds me of the insanity here re that Dad who took his little kids to Kerry rallies, got his child to wave a Bush sign, and a baddie tore up the sign. Man! There were self-described "snake-eaters" who were going to provide that Dad with 24/7 protection, people who sobbed about the trauma to the kids, yada, yada. A handful of posters out of hundreds and hundreds recognized the foolishness of the father. My son also took his kids to rallies with Bush stickers--but they were Bush rallies.

Anyway, besides all the sniping and sassing over some murky feud, this protest goes to the heart of the illegal problem. We keep hearing the mantra "work that Americans can't or won't do." That stale mantra pretends that all the illegals are out in the fields, doing back-breaking work. But most of the illegals are in town. Since when are Americans unable to do carpentry, roofing, asphalting, trenching? And just how hard is it to stroll up and down our Southland streets, or lounging in front of the 7/11, waiting for a few hours of work?

Why hasn't anyone mentioned Chris Reeves? Same predicament, so should he have yanked the respirator years ago?
The Nazis would have loved the film's ending. I saw a while back a Nazi propaganda drama extolling the heroine for getting her doc to give her lethal meds because she had MS. The German term translated to something like "Like Unworthy of Life." Showed scened of cretins and others, "unworthy of life."

I've figured it out! "Rogerv" is none other than a computer program stuffed with automatic responses to almost any question or objection. Pithy ripostes, stirring calls to humanity, gagging bathos, masses of quotes and citations. "Rogerv" almost never really replies to any posts, but just clumps along its same basic line: "can't we all get along?"

You got it. An immense amount of "reasonable" blather, with no specific point, other than "government" should listen to the "people," and the "people" should create a government which will solve all problems. This leads to Bertholdt Brecht's wicked comment on the aftermath of the 17 Jun 53 East Berlin worker's uprising. The Communist Party admonished the workers to redouble efforts to regain the Party's confidence. Brecht suggested that it might be simpler for the Party to abolish the People and elect another.
I studied Political Science in the early 50s when Marxism and Communism were taken seriously. Volumes and volumes on Dialectical Materialism and the rest of the Communist baloney. Popper's and "Rogerv's" stuff is the same. Just mountains of verbiage which can be reduced to: Put us in power and you'll never have to think again.
And I thought that Lysenkoism was long dead, i.e., the creation of the New Soviet Man by osmosis.
By the way, how much has the great philanthropist Soros donated to tsunami relief?

A 10 year old can do a lot of serious harm with 8" scissors concealed in her book bag! She claims she took it to school to open a new CD? What's going on here? What was she going to do with a purported new CD at school?
Sadly, too many people on this thread are so anti-school, anti-govt, anti-society that they are jumping on the "Poor Little Child Victims" bandwagon, raw meat for the ACLU, anti-religion lawyers and other lib radicals.

Everyone on this thread should read the papers, as well as this site. The scissors were 8", not some little toy snippers. She had hidden the scissors in her backpack, which were discovered when a search was made due to a theft from a teacher's desk. I would be highly concerned if a child, 10 or not, brought 8" scissors to my child's elementary school, and the event was just swept under the rug. Being Philadelphia, she probably had in mind some defensive or aggressive action with that tool. I am sorry to see so many Freepers join the "poor victim of the mean cops" crowd.
