Time to Go Joe
saw it in Novak's column yesterday ^ | ???

Posted on 03/13/2005 12:54:11 PM PST by flixxx

It's time to go, Joe. Joe Lieberman, it's time for you to say goodbye to the US Senate. It is time for a real Democrat to be elected to the seat. You know it's time when you stand shoulder-to-shoulder with a President who has lied consistently and constantly to the American public. A President who puts a man in charge of the Justice Department who approved torture (Yes, Joe voted for him) and a woman in charge at State who has clearly lied about what she was told and is responsible for the lack of security around 9/11 (again Joe voted for her)`.

Joe voted for the war in Iraq, and never has complained about being lied to. Joe voted for the tax cuts for the wealthy. Joe voted for the under funded No Child Left Behind, and expensive Medicare changes that don't allow the import of medicine from Canada (and we all know the drugs from Canada are deadly, Bush said so!). Joe has voted more often with the GOP than with the Democratic Party. Joe wants to be friends with the people that brought you the USA Patriot Act (he voted for that too!) and believe Americans can be thrown in jail on the Executive Branches say so with no legal representation.

The first Jew on the Supreme Court? Wasn't Louis Brandeis Jewish?

My bad! You are correct ... and thanks for the correction. He was appointed in 1916.

True Democrats used to want what was in the best interests of hte country. Joe Liberman is one of those. The difference between Dems and Pubs was how to get there. The Democratic party has now been hijacked by those who no longer want what's in the best interets of the country. They only want what is in their best interests (at the expense of everyone else by the way).

So Joe stand your ground. You are a Democrat. Those who oppose you from the left are spoiled children with no parent. And they will either grow up or end up in the insane asylum. Your fine Joe. I like you.

"Joe Lieberman for the Supreme Court."

That is not the worst idea I've ever heard. He was attorney general of CT for quite a while, wasn't he? I have no idea what his ideas on jurisprudence (is that the right word?) would be, but I think he'd probably sail through the nominating procedure. One thing about him, I've never heard about him being financially corrupt in any way, for a dem, heck for a pol, that's pretty good.

Ill admit he never got snagged with any corruption scandals, but he also never said the same thing twice...with one exception: The security of Israel.

That is the ONLY issue he is strong on, defense and anti-terrorism in the mid east.

Gulf War one, he waffled, and waited to vote for it until there was a majority. At least Dodd was open and voted against it right away, he is more consistent!

And what would Dodd and Kennedy do - deny one of their own to the court?

Yes, Ted Kennedy is knee jerk opposed, if Bush wanted Hillary Clinton on SCOTUS, teddy boy would fight him, simply because, if Bush does it, then Kennedy is against it.

Chris Dodd likes Lieberman personally, but he would probably turn on him in the name of partisianship if given the chance.

Thats debatable, there have been more then a few questions raised in the past about him regarding corruption, but those accusasions usually came from the left (his own party), regarding his ties to several accounting firms, plus enron and worldcom, etc.

However, I have never seen any evidence to suggest that the left was on target with any of their accusations.

Louis Brandeis is a perfect illustration of the depths to which our federal judiciary has sunk, ever since the appointment of Earl Warren as chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Yes, he was a partisan Democrat and a New Dealer.

However, that did not prevent him from rendering an impartial decision, even if it went against his personal political convictions.

If only we had more jurists like him and Byron White today.

Is there a conservative Jewish judge who would be qualified for the Supreme Court?

Lieberman may be a Democrat In Name Only, but this guy is a Dumb-ass by thought and deed.

He gives new meaning to the expression, Beauty is ephemeral, but stupidity is preserved for the ages.
