I can relate to your husband. A few weeks ago, I was doing laundry and I accidently shrunk her favorite pair of pants. She got really upset. I told her that I was sorry and that I loved her and that I would make it up to her. The next day "I would make it up to her" turned into a five hour shopping spree to redeem the mistake I had made. She is still waiting for me to shrink another pair of her pants.

Theses are some great comments. I just don't see how this would pass. Voting is a privilege, not a right. What logic would allow those breaking our laws to determine and set the actual laws themselves? This is totally circular. The next thing you know, the ACLU will push for the rights of child molesters to legally adopt once paroled.

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus seems like its just acting for votes, rather than for the welfare of the country (can you believe a politician would do that?). You are right on about the "open border" stance. If the borders were open, Latinos/Hispanics would have an easy majority in the southern border states and eventually the whole country. Congressional Police Power has taken a back seat to being re-elected.

With all the nuclear arms missing from the former Soviet Union, we would be idiots to not have someone over there. And, with roughly 80% of the businesses in Moscow being controlled by the Russian mob, can Putin regulate what's going on? Not a chance.

By the way, has anyone ever gone on an out-of-town trip and accidently left your wife's make-up bag on top of the car, only to see it fly off while your going 70 mph on the freeway? A few years ago, I heard a rumor that McDonalds offers school systems money if the school system notifies McDonalds of any schools within the district which will open in the future. Apparently, when a new school is being built McDonalds will open a new restaurant as close in proximity as possible. Has anyone else heard this? Is it true?

Existing case law, as interpreting the 14th Am "liberty" clause, gives parents the right to control their children's education (along with rights of the family, procreation, privacy, etc.). But, there is nothing in the Constitution saying that anyone actually has the right to receive an education.
As for public vs. private or the fate of the education system in general, others within the forum can tell you a heck of a lot more than I can. As for going to college, however, if you are in a public school and you are not in the top 10% of your graduating class, then you better have a really good SAT score to get into one of the big universities. It seems like the universities have the same grim outlook on public education as many people do.

What's CAIR's mailing address? I'm going to send them a care package of pork chops and sausage. Of course, that would probably add to their list of 'hate crimes' for 2005.

The Federal Government (if they had any balls) should try to press criminal charges against the ACLU for aiding or assisting illegal aliens crossing the border (as an infringement of Congress's Police Power). If anything, it might bring to light the seriousness of the ACLU's actions and turn more people against them. It also might force the Feds to answer up to the people regarding how many illegal aliens make it over every year. Not likely to happen. Whoever posted the RICCO violation idea has something going as well.

I've got a question. The Bill is to require a criminal background check for immigrants as a requirement for citizenship. How can you do a background check on someone who is not even registered in the system? We will end up granting citizenship and residency to rapists, child molesters, and cold-blooded killers because the "background check" protection offered by the government won't do a damn bit of good. And you know Mexico won't help. Why would they give us information on its citizens who don't want to be citizens anymore? This is all crap.

They ought to have a special section in prisons for child molesters and let the various prison gangs take turns "visiting" those guys. It would work much better than the federal rehabilitation efforts, which by government studies are proven time and time again not to work.

As a Houstonian, I can promise you the debate over the Metro still lives on today. The initial cost was astounding, and every time an accident occurs involving the Metro (which I believe now is roughly fifty), the repair costs are in the millions. People do ride it, but I have never seen it even close to being full. One problem is that the signs/street markers/etc. directing traffic in the area of the Metro are hard to see. The other problem is that the Metro is extremely quiet. If you are in a car at a light, or even on foot next to the tracks, you wouldn't know it was coming unless you looked in that direction.

This is troubling in that it present yet another means of "identification" that the government would have to track with regards to illegal aliens, terrorist activity, etc. There is already to much red-tape with regards to the procedures used to track and monitor individuals. Do we really need more? Along the same lines, why would an illegal alien even have use for an ID card? Have they now become entitled to something? If anything, maybe they could start paying taxes like the rest of us. Thanks for the post.

Low and behold, the Hollywood elite might actually finally understand that people are tired of their self-indulging, self-loathing, "anything I say is made of gold" crap. They ought to stick to acting (though poor as it may be) because their political opinions and stances make them look much more ridiculous than the stuff they are putting on screen.
