It was a great deal for Stalin. He increased the territory of the USSR and all of Eastern Europe became communist. All it cost him was millions of lives. He didn’t give a damn about the millions of civilians and soldiers who were killed by the Nazis.

The Munich agreement was an absolute disaster and it cost millions of lives. Had the French and the British stood by Czechoslovakia, Hitler would have been defeated in 1938. The Czech’s had a formidable army and fantastic fortifications. The Wehrmacht would have had their hands full with the Czech army and would have had very few troops to guard their Western border. The Allies could have marched to Berlin.

Mind, their enemy was the much worse USSR, but still. History counts.

You are counting numbers of infantry killed, there was much more going on than that, for instance for part of that war my father’s ship was fighting Germany out of Brazil.
