Julie Newmar had a scheduling conflict and couldn't shoot the movie, so they signed Merriwether for the role. The plot is that with a new actress playing Catwoman and speaking with a Russian accent, Batman couldn't recognize her! With the ensemble cast of villains, the relationship between Batman and Catwoman lacks the depth of Newmar's character on the TV show.

The later Batman movies developed that into a sexual relationship that wasn't possible for a 60's kids TV show or movie. What would Robin have said if he saw Batman in bed with Kim Bassinger? They didn't put Robin in those movies, so they didn't have to address that.

RE: young but there was something about women....

My first pre-puberty crush was on the bad girl daughter of Ming the Merciless, Princess Aura played by Priscilla Lawson. Producers of the 1936 movie serial Flash Gordon had to re-shoot several scenes because she and the others were considered too sensuous moving around in their costumes.

Amazingly, I happened to see some photos of her decades later and I see a definite resemblance to my late wife. Joy’s eyebrows were different and her hair was dark but voluminous and not curly.

I wonder if my image of what a gorgeous woman should look like was in my subconscious all that time.
